I'm really excited to see Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins. He has the world's most sympathetic face. I would watch him read the phone book (if he had deeply held feelings about it, one way or the other).

Freeman is also very good in the BBC's Sherlock. Add him to the short list of Dr. Watson's who are real men, rather than an odd reflection on Sherlock Holmes's taste in friends.


. . . Holy cow, you guys. Sherlock himself (Benedict Cumberbatch) does the voice of the dragon Smaug. :shock:

:) He was as fantastic as one could be in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (even though I didn't like the movie at all).

The background score in the trailer is brilliant. Howard Shore is a genius!

I read The Hobbit when I was ten, knew the whole book by heart for years and years .... I need to reread it now!

I'm with you AntiM, and have worn out 3 hardback copies of that book...

What really impressed me about the trailer (and I have been following the Hobbit video blog for months) was the depth and the darkness of it... I know it's just 2 minutes but, seems like Peter Jackson has really caught the tone of the original tale. 8)

Damn, that got me thinking about LOTRO again - looks like my next few weeks of free time will be wasted gaming.
