Oo, I'm so glad you're taking that offer and going to Eagles' Nest. There's a lot of love for that place. It seems like the sort of environment you should be in.

My shop just landed a very nice job with a long contract!! woooo!! Things are totally turning around in my shop, no longer am I nervous that I'm going to come to work only to find the locks changed!

Plus, I am now almost complete debt free, my total outstanding debt is just about $400!!! it's going to be so nice going from paying on 13 credit cards to none! Goal is to never pay intrest on anything ever again.

Getting debt free is one of the best feelings in the world!
But I don't see a way to ever be totally debt free. Unless you have enough cash around to buy houses, cars, and high end electronics.
But credit card debt is a whole other story.

And the feeling of knowing you have income coming is great too!

i took my wife and 13 year old daughter to a regional burn this weekend and set up a theme camp.... had a blast,,, met a ton of beautiful people... finally was able to show them what i have been talking about for the last year.., they both really got into it...my daughter was running around with the other teenagers until like 4:00 am on burn night and didn't want to leave....my wife was realy dancing her little ass off and checking out the art........ :D ......our camp was called "out of this world piano bar" and we served sangria by the gallons and had a keyboard piano anyone could play ( the sign sayed "Pianist Wanted" ) and we had a few spontanious jams when some people stopped by with guitars and what not..just a good-ol-time....

oh yea in the morning we set up "Hole Foods" and made fresh doughnuts for the hippies

Was feed info that Oregon's was more of a love-in or drum circle.

Whoohoo!

Just got back from an excercise class on an SUP (Stand Up Paddle).

Think Surf Board with a Paddle long enough to use while standing up.

Then think Repetition Excercises

Then put the two together.

(don't forget to add in the occasional rash of waves from the passing boats)

What a freaking BLAST!!!

Yes, I fell in a couple time. And Yes I loved it!!!

Biking home, I broke my own personal land-speed record, just trying to stay warm.... ending up by yelling out a challenge to a boat-hauling truck that I'd race him up the hill. He hunkered down raring to go (pretty much in jest, as he was staying neck and neck the whole time), but I guess I won, because he pulled off the road 2 driveways down from the top! Wuss!

Just a couple of weeks ago, I could barely do a km on my bike without wanting to give up and be done. Yesterday I did over 30km and I only stopped because I ran out of time!

Things are looking UP!!!!

For a couple of years I have been wanting to participate in the Handcar Regatta in Santa Rosa, CA. This is sort'a like a Mutant Vehicle parade, but on a railroad track, and with only human muscle power allowed.

The most difficult part, seems to me, is obtaining or building suitable wheels. Many homemade solutions tend to fall off the track. So I have been keeping an eye out for rear rail wheels, at an affordable price.

Well, last Saturday I found a set (four) for $150,-. A new set costs $1200,-, and these are still in good condition. So I got a bargain. I have the vehicle to put them on, so now I can begin modifying it for track use.

And this weekend I'm going to the Kinetic Sculpture Race in Klamath Falls, OR. For once I'm not racing, but I'm looking forward to being a spectator this time. And of course, I'm transporting two teams to the event with my bus.

So things are looking up!

Do you enter the race in Ferndale also Elliot? My field superintendent paticipated in that one for years. He built some incredible racers. The last one as I remember was a full on Mississippi riverboat.

I've been doing the Arcata-To-Ferndale Kinetic Sculpture Race since 2004. And I do remember the river boat. I've spoken with those guys several times. Please tell him the sport is growing again and we would love to have him back. Yes, great fun!
