Thanks, Ring. Mine started the same way in the same year. And I was all inspired by the stories of cool sounding art cars from those recently returning from the playa. It seemed there were all kinds of fish and sea creatures so I thought that was just how every Burn was. I was starting to become inspired to build a jellyfish art car that would mist people to keep them cool so I created the log in, surfed around some more, then realize that everybody had just returned from the "Floating World" theme so I scrapped the idea and built something else and the name stuck.

Lots of my friends just call me "Jelly" now, which is pretty cool as I don't feel it sets an expectation for me to be all fit and trim when I show up. I like it when I get to tell people to call me "Mr." and that they have to spell it out. If I could make them fill out forms just to say my name I'd do that too.

When I was 12 or so (21 now) I started playing computer games all the time and had to make a Username. I have no clue why Mrpatatomoto popped into my head but it did and thats what Ive used ever sense. I changed it to Mrpotatomoto once to spell it correctly but I think its more unique this way and With a common name like Mike I like being unique haha.

After the funeral her sister said that Michelle had loved running her fingers through my hair, that it was more like running them through fur. Through fox fur. Fox is my name. That was their secret sister girl talk phrase they used when talking about me. And so the nickname was born from misery into tribute. I carried it around, unused except internally, for years. It was a name that I didn't want to despoil by uttering it aloud and I sure as hell didn't want anyone calling me by it, ever. Then the internet happened. Somewhere along the way I pulled over, climbed out of myself and said "What the fuck? It's yours and you fucking own it! Now use it!"
I've used it as my sole screen name ever since. Only once in 15 years have I run across another foxfur. I feel it makes the tribute that much more special.

I don't use it in the real world. It's just Fox.

When i did mushrooms for the first time i thought i was going crazy.. so after the tripp im sitting in my room trying to come up with a name for aim..i was gonna put "crazy mushroom420" but i thought of psycho cuz it sounds more like psilo... psychocybin... psilocybin... and the 420 is for obvious reasons.
If cocaine were legal, would they sell it in little packages like Sweet N' Low? Would they call it Sweet N' High?

My theory has always been, "If someone built it, I can take it apart and rebuild it" . MY dad named me Tinker, because I am ADD and do lots, all the time. So now I have two boys who do the same. Hence the mom part.

How I got the 'not Nick name' illy dilly is not nearly as fun or fitting as a lot of the previous posts. Started as illa in high school, because of my fondness for certain substances, some times referred to as ills, and my desire to keep my real name private. It grew from serious 'illa' to the more relaxed 'illy' then eventually to an even more fun illy dilly.

See told ya, sorta boring. Not spiritual or meaningful in any way really. Just a lot of fun to say, and fun to say with different accents.
Why don't ya stick your head in that hole and find out? ~piehole

i'm sure i have mentioned earlier how mine came about because someone on a forum said grai you're such a dawg and i wanted to ditch the screename i was using at the time. used it since but tbh like many others i am now bored of it and dont feel such a dawg anymore.

It does however remind me of a friend of mine known as old gay pete, and another friend (who is also gay hated us using it - till ogp explained) he was round a friends who was taling on the phone to someone, and said pete wss there which pete? after about five minutes of the friend trying to polity explain which pete ogp shoutef "for fucks sake tell him its OLD GAY PETE the friend on the other end of the phone went oh that pete. it stuck - though is more commonly ogp now.

the annoying thing is everytime i meet him he has completely forgotten me (remembers my son though)

It was an old nickname from high school. They said I looked like a fairy but was like a tiger - beautiful to look at but will bite your head off if crossed.

I had to come up with a name for here so i used it. I guess because of my many posts and the gifting last year, everyone knew me and Vegan Choir Girl (also known as Muppet of Death) decided that I was too well known by that name to go by anything else.
We break to remind us how to mend.

I'll just call you "Grai" until such time as you think of a substitute, as I have had one other friend and a relative with some permutation of the word Grai or Gray in their names, and I always liked it.

Unless I call you "G-Dog" or "Snoop Dogg" on impulse. It could happen. Or "Dr. Grai"!

Postby Fufa » Tue Jun 07, 2011 8:10 pm

When the youngest cousin in my extended family (born in '01), was first learning to speak he came out on a trip with his mother to visit our family. He was at my cousin's Cassie and Allesha's house first, and dubbed them "Caca" and "Shesha". Then when he visited myself and my brother Todd (dubbed "Tudge"), he had trouble with my name:Kara. I couldn't be called Caca cause my cousin already had that name. When I was coaxing him to say me name he said "Kefa" softly, only once. Then he said loudly "FUFA" (pronounced Foo-fah). From then on I was only known as Fufa to him, and eventually it stuck and I really liked it. Very very few people call me it in real life, probably only my mom and dad. Even my cousin stopped using it when he hit age 5.

I am always glad I wasn't the cousin that ended up with the Caca nickname! :D (insert poop joke)

I tried out Fufa as my playa name last year, and decided I didn't really like using it as a common moniker, I prefer it as a nickname kept within my family. Funny how that works, considering its one of the main internet usernames I have. So I'm still searching for a name I like for the playa (besides Kara of course).

My grandfather called me that when I was born. He exclusively called me this name for the rest of his life. It is a term of endearment. I chose it as my Ranger name in 1999. I had left for the playa one week after he had had his first heart attack. I chose it as my playa-name out of homage to him. Two days later, someone asked me if I knew about Bob. Of course I knew about TCOTSG since 1989. Synchronicity in action.

Mine must be the most boring story to date.

After months of lurking the boards I decided to post. A month later I was still agonizing over a screen name. I was completely stumped and Drawing A Blank.

And then it hit me...

I admit defeat!

In the challenge for the "most boring screen name story" I did not have sufficient mediocrity to triumph!

LOL, That reminds me of when I was a field engineer - the less work you did the longer your daily report. Those with a flair for total bullshit could do 10 minutes of work and make the rest look like slackers.

Your middle name sounds like it would come with a more interesting story than your eplaya name.
