Hm. I didn't go back to work for 8 months. I have drastically changed, in some ways.

What has happened, turning 40, losing Scott, the accident I'm a bit more impatient with time wasting nonsense. I used to read really crappy books, because at least I was reading. Now I very seldom do that. Finishing a book is a conscious choice. I don't know if it goes much deeper than that. I plonk eplayans I can't cope with--I don't want them wasting my precious time, I don't want to waste my own time arguing with them.

Odd, I don't read as much anymore either. I do fritter time away online, but I'm very conscious of it as a choice. And I so wish for the choice to plonk, but I can't.

Cancer wasn't a near death thing for me, just a medical thing I had to wade through. I did nearly die when I had the rupture ectopic pregnancy, by the time I was taken to the ER, I'd bled enough internally the pain had stopped and I was shutting down. I didn't know that, just I'd lost control of my motor functions and I was calm, getting very warm and fuzzy. Oh, I still could feel pain, the needle trough the cervix was the most intense thing I'd ever experienced. But overall I'd have gone quietly had I been home alone instead of on duty in the bunkroom at work. After, I didn't focus on the nearly died part, the loss of a child and half my reproductive organs took precedence. I suppose that was where I was at the time, still in my 20s and still immortal.

I volunteered at an interesting religious group recently to help them build their web page. They act like I'm the answer to their prayers. I don't need to tell you how that lifts my spirit.

Some of the congregation members are cooking Japanese food in the kitchen, it smells a little like what Toshi used to cook. I get a little misty for a sec, then I notice that I am surrounded by a new, loving family. And it's all right.

You have to dig your own way out; trust your instincts.

She came so close to jumping after the carriage, it looks like the train made contact with her.
She was distraught even two days after it happened.
She said she bought an identical carriage to replace the old one.

You know, there are different parts of life that parts of us die in.

I have learned with every situation that has brought me so close to disease death, as well as devastation to ones life, that you have choice to what kind of reincarnation,(meant only in the aftermath of said situations) we choose.

From 2 points in particular in my lifes devastations, I choose to be who I always wanted to be...me. Something in my young years I had no idea how to be.

From the 3 close calls with my mortality of disease and one huge personal experience/loss of mind/came back.
I decided that I would no longer be that camelion, that society had forced on me.

I would be myself, love myself and not search for that person to share the last of my days with. That I would roam alone for the right reasons and not be with, for the wrong.


When that all took place, and 8 yrs had passed.
Some awesome human walked through my door. and Loves me for who I am, and not whom Im not.

When ones life gets taken to the edge and back again...it is a real eye opener.

And better yet....a Heart Opener

Nah, Yg, here's the scoop. Somebody falls out of a window and survives unscathed. The news reports on the "miracle".

But if you go through the right (or "wrong") experience, you will start to appreciate every minute of existence, to a point where you see miracles everywhere - instead of taking them for granite. That one's for you.

yeah, Dougly, if it bleeds, it leads. I hear what you're saying. We are tellers of tales though so the mundane and ordinary seems less exciting. We may have it all backwards there.

Given that it's almost time for you folks to have Thanksgiving, maybe Dougly is getting at the simple things that we are lucky for or can appreciate.

After my near miss, I have to say the thing I'm most thankful for is that I got to the playa and had a chance to meet so many of you this year. And that is more important than the near miss, for sure.

Is it as exciting? Hmm, well actually it was exciting to meet each of you.

so:
I'm driving down the road, 2 lane highway, about 50 mph.

from behind the car going the opposite direction, a blur of brown fur, "smack", pieces of grill and assorted front end parts go flying over the hood and windshield.......

Luckily, the deer bounced straight forward, not under the car to interfere with control, or, over the hood into my lap via the windshield.........

I got stopped and off the road safely, and, the other cars avoided the "skidding deer/hockey puck" as it crossed oncoming traffic and off the side of the road............

dang, that could have been much worse..........even for the deer, since, at least, he died instantly........

steam from radiator, parts missing, I limped it home........about 2 miles...........

naw, as hard as I hit him, he'd just be "meat pudding" on the inside......
I've done that before, lots and lots of work, skinning, butchering, etc, and so much of the meat is "bloodshot" from trauma.........

It was gone two hours later, though.....perhaps, our local mountain lion or bear got a good meal.

Yeah, I understand that, friends and I did that once, and ended up scrapping 1/4 of it to the local mt. lions. the meat was kinda weird though, so we ended up just tossing all of it after all that prep!

ok, so, on Friday night, a tree top shorted the power transmission lines that run down the road in front of my house.
I checked that night, to make sure the neighbors house was not of fire, and, saw the lines were about 20' above the ground, where, they had sagged while holding the top of said tree, and, arcing and burning and such.

Well, later that morning, when the sun was up and, all, I walked down to check to see what had happened. As I looked up, I noted the transmission lines, were, now, not there, and, the top of the tree was laying about 20' from me........

uh oh.......realizing, that, said transmission lines were laying in the snow, on the wet ground, fairly near me, but completely hidden in the snow........
dang.
I looked up the street to see the other ends hanging in the roadway........
dang again..........

Well,
I'm glad I was wearing rubber boots, or, the lines were grounded good enough that "latent charge" was not roaming the surface, looking for a place to "ground".......

I asked the power company crew, when they got there (I called to report a "dangerous situation) about the situation, and, they stated the lines, even when broken, can hold up to 100KV latent charge, just waiting to dis-charge given the correct connection.........

I'm very glad not to have provided that connection.....
