Yes, yes it is. However, when faced with the prospect of dealing with three gs, it's understandable that the two middle ones might change as one to another letter.
Now, I don't know what the point of this actually is, beyond the basic finding of a new letter/word. And I realize that I am not the most able at this game, but if there is a strategy of forcing people from being able to find a new word then having three of the same letter (I've seen es and ls as well as the gs) will sort of put people against the wall as it reduces flexibility. If the point is to keep the balloon in the air as long as possible, then you want to use a mix of letter and leave a bunch of options for the next person. As for going after four syllables... well, then I think that's going for the most amazing word, and I don't know what the relation between any two posters should be.
