Try the scent of 100LL ("low lead") aviation gasoline sometime. To prolong the shelf life of the stuff they use toluene as a solvent instead of whatever it is that smells so awful in car gasoline. It's reminiscent of model airplane glue.

Real aviators lust for the smell of kerosene, however. Especially burned kerosene. (Spilled kerosene doesn't evaporate, leaving the hangar floor treacherously slippery.)

I had a Norton 750 when I was in high school.....I always smelled like gear oil and gas. So you would have liked me Ivy....Well...may be not, unless you like dirty hands, and cluelessness. But well I can ride a motorcycle hell-a-fast, and on a hot day that was better than women anyway.....of course now I'm reformed, born again even.....(quiet, DL, r-pod, PQ, ect.!!!)
