How about adding a direct link over in the "Share/Preparation" heading that says "Rideshare" and when clicked takes you directly to

As pointed out over on another thread the rideshare area is way hard to discover.

Good idea. What was the other thread that the difficulty was mentioned?

I asked a while back when the rideshare was going to be available, guess it could be pushed again.

Thanks to theCryptofishist for helping link pappagigs way over to the riseshare part of the calander. Hmmm, is that always the "official" rideshare location or has a seperate area been set up in the past? This is the first year I've paid much attention as I'm looking for a couple of folks to join my camp and ride over/back.

Is there any way to go through the old posts and consolidate the ones which are specific to "How/where do I do/get.... something" Practical questions such as truck rental, where to get water befre arrivng on the playa, best place to shop for tofu, blah, blah....

A lot of these questions have been asked (and answered) multiple times and I'm wondering if another thread is warranted. Perhaps a heirarchy similar to

Where do I get:

water
groceries
truck/car rentals
ice/groceries
ride share
to/from the Reno airport
etc....

I think badger's right. I also think we are talking man/fish/woman/badger hours in some sence. If we did one consolidation at a time it might be less time.

I think Bob was the last person to bring that up. I used to bring it up in meetings and such but then decided that if no one would volunteer to do it I would.

I started a list, took some notes... then realized I am probably not the best person to do it when I was overwhelmed by it all. I am all for it and might take on a certain sub-topic, but not the entire board.

To delete/move posts and topics requires admin permissions in that area, and seeing how difficult and slow it can be to get that worked out... well.. I think you get the picture.

There is also the Index Overview in each major topic area that needs to be done. At the last meeting someone volunteered, but think it somehow fell through the cracks.

actually if we have volunteers who are willing to do the moving around, i think it would probably be fine (we may have to get the green light from AG) to open up their accounts to get stuff moved around. i can change those permssions, just let me know who wants to take on each section.

i agree it's a great idea, i think the only thing missing is the people to do it, because it's a large task that requires some coordination. moving threads is a one-at-a-time process without a mod being added, so the whole process will be arduous, no matter who takes it on.

that being said, if you know threads that you want moved now, just send me a list (link and target area) and i am happy to move them for you.

(of course, now i'm closing the computer to go offline until after memorial day, so fill up my mailbox with move requests if you'd like.)

I would do part of it, but yeah, more volunteers are needed - its a bit much to ask of a single person.

Cryptofishist, I think a plan of attack would be good to somehow divide it up. So are you open to having admin access?

Well, I don't want to have to be respectful all the time--I'm not quite good at that, BUT i do think it's good to have the thread consolidation project (or whatever it is exactly) done and I think the best approach is: "YOu do bicycles, you do food, you do structures, ect." I would be totally willing to help if I had a computer at home, and as I think the mrFishist will be visiting the BM office, it would be nice if I could use a computer there to help out.

Is there a mod that would enable the user to search by the tread title only?

For example, when I currently do a search on say "dry ice" I get threads that have nothing to do with dry ice, but might have the words dry or ice in one of the posts. It's basically the same as scrolling through all the threads to find the one that's relevant to my sure. It seems to me that searching for the thread title would make finding things easier.

i just added a sticky to the 'share' section that points to the ride share application. not sure if we should add a folder or not, since the application was built specifically for this purpose.

I realize that there's only so many topics one can make sticky but there's something about Sober On the Playa that makes me think it should be hovering close to the top of the list for people who're seeking connections to other sober folks lest the temptation to imbibe be overwhelming.

I would like to request that the contents of the archived old eplaya be made available to us once again.

The terrible news of Nipple's passing has made me want to revisit the past a little... and I'd bet I'm not alone. I only met Nipples face-to-face two times - but I think of him as a friend. The entirety of that friendship was conducted online and in written word - and it's roots were formed on the old eplaya.

Please. It's always been a valuable informational resource - now it could also be something of a memorial.
