QUESTION: Should I stay put.....or
clear cookies and try going back on with original browser?
Logic being it would remember my place in line, instead of staying put at a 1:13 start time.
"I don't know" is an acceptable answer.
I'm in the same boat. I'd suggest staying put. Going by the logic that your place in line is stored in the cache/cookies then when you clear it, it will go away and you'll just be starting all over again.
The original message wasn't clear whether it remembered your passcode or your browser via cookies but it's becoming pretty clear that it's not your passcode... which sucks for you and I and a bunch of others that had this issue. I'm sure there's enough tickets that I'll get there eventually but this is a serious drain on my day and mood.
Your words sound of logic and intelligence....I think I will stay put.

If you have the "sold out" message, DONT LEAVE THAT PAGE! REPEAT OF 2011! HIT BACK, REFRESH, AND THEN YOU'LL GET THE PURCHASE PAGE!
Two tickets, out to Mr. and Ms. Ano. Thanks!

Few suggestions though
1. 3+ hours in queue without having any idea where exactly you are is NOT GOOD.
1a. A line with quantity of remaining tickets along with your number in queue would be much more helpful than some IP address on some remote network.
2. Connection error messages help only ones with low blood pressure. For every single one who needs that shit I can name hundreds who don't. Seriously.
2a. If you can not get it going without this BS, put a line saying "Minor hiccup, No Worries, your number in queue is preserved, just hit refresh, enter your code again, you're on the right track"
3. IMHO it would be a good idea to invest some $$ from jacked up ticket price into contracting professional ticket selling services. If nothing else, I'm sure it would be counted as +1 mitzvah
for collective BMORG karma.
