You're new here, I can tell. Are you sure you weren't looking for the Coachella board?

I thought most peeps at burning man were open minded, friendly, supportive and welcoming, but this thread is showing otherwise. I am coming all the way from Australia with about 8 other people and every single one of us are excited to be a part of this themed camp, they have a great idea, and big isn't necessarily bad! These guys are artists attempting to create an epic structure of wonder on the playa and I am fully supportive of this, I think it will be amazing.

Great work Bigsexxy! keep it up and ignore the haters, only lovers are welcome!

I think the fear is valid. Don't necessarily need to put the dude on blast, but I see where the concern is coming from. We already have Coachella, Electric Daisy, all the other Insomniac events in San Bernardino and beyond. Not that BM is some sort of holy event that we should all bow down to, but I've heard from a lot of people who have been going a long time that BM is starting to be infiltrated more and more with EDC type super clubs and raver kids. Glow sticks and those little candy bracelets with LOVE on them. LIttle kid stuff. Which is fine if that's what you want, but as I said, there are tons of those events elsewhere.

I think the name probably doesn't help either. "Bigsexxy" sounds like some dude from Jersey shore. Frat status. And he called it a "festival" which seems to drive burners nuts. Please refer to it only as "an exhibition of radical self expression and reliance". Or just call it what it is: a bunch of fucking people in the fucking desert for a fucking week.

On a more positive note, always remember that "ePlaya" is not "THE PLAYA".

The picture/concept is sweet, but I think the feeling is that it belongs more at EDC type places. A lot of the art work I've seen from BM is about artists expressing themselves. Putting their hearts and soul into their work, selflessly. But of course you could say Bigggsxxxy is doing the same thing.

Whatever. I don't care. Leave me alone. Get out of my head. Mommy I'm scared. That man is back. That man with the headdress. He's following me and keeps whispering "the demon is here for your galbladder"

I don't want that we would scare EarthWind&Fire off. So for your sake buddy...

It might be that Apex Kingdom is a super sweet idea. Maybe they put together a great camp and everyone is participating and welcoming and it's all done with grass roots support, and they donate the soundgear afterwards to kids who can't even afford velcro straps for their shoes. VERY possible. What scares people is that BM has always been "different" from any sort of festival. There aren't vendors. It's about community and interacting with one another and participation and getting out of your comfort zone. Trying new things. Expanding your reality, etc. Gifting. Helping each other out. Almost like a small town.

So when it APPEARS that someone wants to come in and create a Vegas club in the middle of the Playa, that doesn't go over so well. VIP camps with air conditioned RVs and red rope invite only events...doesn't go over well. Celebrities flying in on private planes and having guards, doesn't go over well.

Again, this may be nothing like that. But it came off like that. IF it's not, then more power to Apexorgasm.

But for you, don't worry mate. You'll come and you'll love it. It's a city of 60k so there will be all types. There has to be.

Roast them over a few coals or stove until the sugar melts and browns. Let cool slightly into a hard creme brulee style crust. Absolute heaven

Had a feeling I might get slightly flamed for my comments :P I understand completely your points and even though I have not been to BM before, I too wouldn't want it to become commercialised/popularised or turn in the direction of big festival raves like Electric Daisy, Ultra Music Festival etc. One of the main appeals for me coming for the first time finally is that it isn't mainstream, it is such a uniquely different experience than anything else on earth, I like how counter-culture it is, with people free to express whatever they want, no money/buying, gifting, free-spirited, all of that. The culture and vibe of Burning Man sounds unreal, and something I want to be a part of and don't want it to be tainted.

I guess we'll see how this digital apex camp goes! Either way I am looking forward to having the time of my life on the playa and engaging with many interesting people and art installations.
Love is the key philosophy. The love of great red wine from Bordeaux or Burgundy. The love of weird and wonderful sounds – high weirdness, weird highness, the cave man to the rave man, eternal celestial musicians hanging around whistling an old tune
