BUT WHY NOT?!

THE VIRGINS come to eplaya, to burning man, with good intentions talking about their upcoming life transforming experiences ..theyve usually read the website and seen the 10 principles. Then we find out some of the virgins are useless.. ones who dont lend a hand, who dont give anything of themselves, who throw trash in when it says 'no trash!!'.. and on and on.

these ones dont "get it" and the playa itself doesnt transform these virgins.. reading the 10 principles doesnt transform them.. these ones need a human experience.. not a list of community principles

no matter how many 10 principles speeches that are tried on the playa..and before it, in an attempt to acculturate these virgins it never makes them "get it"..

If they arent that kind of person already, they probably arent gonna be transformed within just a few days because they knew the 10 principles.. they need an example..they need to be shown that it was within someone to care enough to share

If they need to be sold, or convinced or reminded to do good things, to offer a hand, to leave people feeling good about them ODDS ARE THE 10 PRINCIPLES WONT HELP but maybe someone can change them.. where just reading the 10 principles couldnt

we want the virgins who dont need to be reminded of these principles
we want the virgins that find such a reminder patronizing

So where does this leave you, the virgin who gets it already?!!?

It leaves you in a place of making the deeply personal participation happen.
It leaves you in a place to trying to acculturate people who dont get it.

So what do you have to do, virgin who gets it already?

You have to meet the bar.. but not because you were reminded..
You have to meet the bar.. but not because the 10 principles told you so..
You have to meet the bar, or exceed it.. because of what comes from within you..

Are you looking for a transformative experience at Burning Man ?

You can find one... but if you "get it" you wont be transformed. It will be the person youve shared yourself with who is transformed. the one who wasnt by the 10 principles, by being in the desert....the one who needed an experience with someone who "gets it"

some people who come to burning man dont "get it" they are virgins and maybe veterans....and reminders about kindness, and principles.. our culture, wont likely change them.. but YOU CAN...

You, as a virgin, one who "got it", before arriving, before reading the 10 principles.. you understood,..it is your job to make other people "get it" ..because someone "got it" even before burning man was invented.. and those people who got it.. they made it what it is today

SO I SAY TO THE VIRGINS WHO DONT GET IT:

DONT BUY IN TO THE 10 PRINCIPLES, THEY WONT CHANGE YOU, BUT A PERSON WHO GETS IT ALREADY CAN CHANGE YOU, THROUGH THEIR ACTIONS

IF YOU DONT "GET IT" ALREADY, BEFORE BURNING MAN,.., BE OPEN TO THAT PERSON WHO MIGHT GET IT ALREADY

LET THE ONES WHO "GET IT" SHOW YOU WHAT OUR PRINCIPLES ARE.. BECAUSE READING THEM DOESNT BEGIN TO SCRATCH THE SURFACE... and reading them doesnt begin to show you that our principles were around long before burning man was...

if you understand this.. you dont need the 10 principles.. your transformative experience will come by transforming others.

if you dont understand it, you dont need the 10 principles.. you just need someone.. a someone and their will to share themselves.. and if youre open to that ..you just might be transformed in to one who "gets it"
