Gifts for the playa

I have all the things I need to be able to travel around with a little wagon with two large (5 gallon) containers of hot chocolate at night when it's super cold (I am a cold monster). My only concern at this point is that a lot of people don't remember cups, and my original idea was to have a cup with a carabiner that they could keep but the only reusable cups I can afford in pseudo-bulk are the crappy plastic ones with no handle which I hope won't melt (ew). I'm planning on just making the hot chocolate less scalding for that. But I also found some recyclable hot paper cups with lids and I was wondering if that would be super frowned upon when the person didn't have a cup in the first place...ideas? thoughts? I am loving this thread and all the ideas.

I'm with FigJam, I'd skip cups altogether. Less to buy/bring out there, and less trash to burn or haul back home.

I can understand you wanting to have a backup, although people should have their own cups, and shouldn't be surprised if they can't take part in the hot chocolate. There is also the issue of rewarding their careless behavior. The choice as to whether to lay in a stock of hot paper cups is yours. It's not rude to only supply the hot chocolate though, if that's what you're asking.

If you do supply cups, consider having a trash bag at the ready and be sanguine with accepting a few cups back (what a pain! that's one drawback) . . . although drinking cocoa sometimes takes a while, so they might not take you up on it, and a cupless person really should hang on to a cup once they have it.

I'm bringing a full length lighted mirror for as one gift.

But the best gift I will give is the same one I gave my first virginal night on the playa a few years ago... It's real simple. I just find a project going on, step right up, and ask, "Could you all use some help?"

Ok, I am completey un-artistic. My "talent" is being able to quickly see through a complex problem as related to complex decisions.

I cannot make model planes, weld two rods together or pound out copper cups from pennies...

I would absolutly enjoy gifting to ppl that I meet when the mood strikes but I am at a loss for what to do. I can gift a hug, a nice comment or even a cold one to the greeters as I come in. But as for something physically tangible...???!!!

You're already doing it right. Context appropriate help is almost always good.

Gifting doesn't have to be material things. Often, the best and most useful or helpful gifts are things like lending a hand or offering a drink at just the right moment. As theCryptofishist says, you're doing it right.

Umm.. I was told to gift things that people will actually use.. so I picked up over 100 lighters yesturday (3 for 1$.. sounds good to me,) to add to my gifting bag. If you lose your lighter, look for my hat.

I went with lighters, too. These have built-in flashlights, and are refillable. I'll bring extra butane, too, if anyone nneds to refill thier lighter.

My brother is making a bunch with buckles with the cord left over from my trash fence project. I figured the same thing. You never know when a hunk of paracord will come in handy.
