Step Program Credit Card Number.

So I have a Visa gift card with 400 dollars on it that I registered with hoping to get one of the bottom two teirs. Now that that didn't happened I will be joining the step program. I now have 500 dollars cash I want to put on a gift card to cover the top teir of a ticket in that range comes available to me. I need to spend some money on some other things that keep me alive so I'm wondering if I can get a 500 dollar card and spend the 400 or is the credit card number tied to the name and the drawing and must be used in the Step program?

I hope this hasn't been covered anywhere else but I can't seem to find this info.

I can confirm you will be able to enter a different credit card for STEP than you used to register in January (it still needs to be in your name).
