“This has me waking up at night terrified,” said Marian Goodell, a founding board member and spokeswoman for Black Rock City, the company that organizes Burning Man in the desert outside Gerlach, Nev. “It is the end of Burning Man if we don’t solve this.”
Put a fork in it. It's done.

Selling tickets online makes it difficult to distinguish between veteran Burners, loathed scalpers and first-timers, known as birgins in the lingo of festivalgoers.

I found the lack of an Oxford comma interesting. Are both scalpers and first-timers loathed? Wait wait, don't answer that.

It's dust off the old mantra, everybody: IT WAS BETTER LAST YEAR!

Ugghh indeed. It seems they've gone from aloof and uncaring to panicked and apocalyptic.
I preferred aloof and uncaring.

To despondent.
My German Friends (all non burners) are writing me non stop, they all want to know;
A) Who the hell is in charge over there, haven't they heard about crowdsourcing?
B) How in the hell was this (impending doom) kept under wraps for so long. [*nod to Playa Waste Raiders*]
1. In the country that defined "Spin", how did an llc not know that being on NPR would end up in the Times
2. What kind of people trust a $10Million dollar ticket sell to an unsecured php based site.
C) Where can they get a ticket.
and the world watches...

Last night she sent me the NYT article and wanted to make sure I had tickets and told me that my dad had a scalper that could get anything if I needed help. I told her I got one and thanked her for the offer without going into the whole no scalper thing.
I love my mom.

That almost sounds like some New Jersey love. Except she offered a scalper and not a "friend" that works in "waste management". I can't tell you how many times I've had to remind fellow Jersey residents that "friends" in "waste management" are not a good way to deal with ticket shortages or break ups.

I should clarify. This was our neighbors, not our family.Or in at least one case, setting up your accountant and brother-in-law who are about to testify against you with a prostitute, video taping it and sending it to your sister.
