Driving in from the North -- alt route from Cedarville?

For anyone with experience driving to BRC from the North -- Wondering if anyone has ever attempted to drive east on 299 past the junction for 447 and continued on to and taken Country Road 34 south to BRC. Looking at the map and thinking this route might allow us to miss the Gerlach-to-BRC traffic...

Any thoughts gladly appreciated.

Curious...did you take that route? I've heard it NOT the way to go.

The standard route from Cedarville is not impacted all that much by the traffic coming out of Gerlach. We just join the flow of traffic for the approx 12 miles to the playa turn off and join the line moving toward the Gate. This year we arrived at the turn-off about 8:15 PM Sunday and got to camp about 11 PM...thanks to Speed Gateing and Speed Greeting...really kept backups to a minimum!
