Scooters on the Playa

I'm having trouble finding the rules for scooters, both electric and gas. I understand that they must be the stand up type. Are gas powered ones legal? Do they need to be registered? I'm sure the rules must be posted somewhere if you would be kind enough to direct me, I would appreciate it. Thanx. Mama
