flying in, gotta get a bunch of crap quickly before heading out to the playa. renting a van a good idea? relatively cheap.. would go for full insurance.. have 5 people riding with all their gear...

Hengehold is great, but in CA. Any burner friendly places in Reno?
And while an aveo is more fuel efficient, there would be a serious game of rock scissors paper to determine which three lucky souls would be strapped to the roof for the duration of the trip to the playa. I'm guessing the highway patrol and/or the tribal police might not find that quite so amusing :lol:

i will minimize my CO output. and try to avoid traces of my passengers on the skidway in the process.

seriously, if i could find someone to give me and my crew a lift from reno to brc and back, i'd be all over it :!:

problem is not getting in till wednesday and making sure we get back in time for our return flight monday, [i]with[/i] all our crap and garbage

He will set you up with a large enough vehicle to handle your needs, will not rip you off for returning it dusty, and from what I have heard and seen is about 20-30% less expensive than his competition. Vans are great for hauling people and stuff to the Burn, but unless you have some great plan for converting it into a mutant vehicle, kitchen or living/camping quarters it's just going to sit there doing nothing at whatever daily rate you get it for.

I rent a decent RV each year. Yeah, it's more expensive, but then I've got a fully equipped living structure, w/ AC, to use for the week. You can carry more people to share the cost. Last year our RV worked out to about $378/peep including gas...YMMV...

if it means an extra 2.5 hours driving to keep from getting ripped off by a reno car rental, so be it! besides, can't complain bout the scenery to and from.

Do you know if Frontier airlines has a hub in sacramento? i know they do in reno.. got a line on 60 bones roundtrip for flights to their hubs :lol:

Consider buying a decent vehicle, then selling it when you get back.
Okay, if that seems stupid and expensive, look up van rental prices for a week - and of course mileage.

Vans make good paper weights for your camp. I've built a couple camps completely around my dodge cargo van. Basically, every thing was connected, in one way or another to that van...the roof rack was a great tying point.

Oh yeah...whatever vehicle you use, if its gonna sit all week, but still be used for storage or whatever, disconnect the negative battery cable. You'd be suprised what a dome light can do to a battery in a week.
