Camp Nomadia - A Camp for Nomads

Is travel in your spirit? Is wanderlust your calling? Have you dared to give up a conventional home and make a home wherever you happen to be? Is life too short and the world too large to be stationary?

If this sounds like you, we welcome you to join us at Camp Nomadia in 2012. This camp is open to present, past, future, and wannabe nomads, travelers, backpackers, vagabonds, explorers, and those with that restless spirit of adventure. We are part time nomads, domestic nomads, technomads, lowtechnomads, land nomads, RVers, water nomads, flying nomads, and folks who want to be around nomads (yes, your non-nomadic friends can join too!) We are Burning Man veterans and virgins alike!

Our intention with Camp Nomadia is for it to be a nomadic convergence - where nomads from all walks of life bring their default world homes with them. As many of us are living in motion and are used to being self-contained (and don't have the space to transport extra stuff anyway), Camp Nomadia doesn't currently intend to offer much in the way of camp infrastructure beyond perhaps a group shade structure. We need to be clear up front that this is not a camp for folks looking to come ill-prepared and utilize a camp's communal gear. If you want to shower please bring a shower. If you want to sit please bring a chair, etc. There are no official meals or utilities provided so keep that in mind. There are no dues or fees because there is no overall need for them. We intend to keep things easy-going and low-hassle, creating a group synergy based on individual self sufficiency.

It's a fabulous site created Cherie and Chris who founded the camp, and talks about Camp Nomadia's history, intentions, and expectations. It also contains great stories and resources on nomadic living. As nomads, we are self-sufficient and independent on our travels, and therefore don't have heaps of communal infrastructure as in some other camps - but we welcome all to our camp who share our passion for the nomadic way of life.
