I recently got notified about my camp getting placement (HURRAY!!!!!) and then today see that I was unsubscribed from the placement-newsletter.
Was that intentional, or an accident/mistake?

I'm guessing an accident. They want to dissemintate information, not hoard it... If any issues come up, I think they'd want to let everyone know. (Yes, I know definitions of "issues" vary, but this is my broad application of priniciples, not some sort of specifically LLC Kremlintology...)

Ok, problem fixed. Placement team fixed it for me.
I was accidentally removed, because I accidentally submitted two applications...since one was marked 'cancelled' and both had the same email addr, my addr was removed. They re-added me though, so things are good. I figured I caused it.
