Tricked out, Family style Esplanade Camp run by WELL seasone

2012 will be my 17th year on the playa. When this theme camp fiasco began, I had a solid core crew from start to finish. These days our camp is heavy with people who have the money but not the time… or the skills,… or the willingness… etc….. that is required to pull off a theme camp, especially one as grand as ours!

We are a family style camp, almost always on the esplanade, in need of some new core crew. Our camp is going through an evolution, & we need fresh ideas, skills, & enthusiasm...& TIME!!!!! Our camp provides ABSOLUTELY everything… A Secure campsite (canopy borders with sidewalls, overhead, tarp floor) all tents on tarp under shade, All food (breakfast and dinner family style), all water, other beverages, all beer and liquor, lighting, power, great stereo system, our own porta potties, & HOT AND COLD RUNNING WATER for Kitchen sink, bathroom sink, and shower, all automatically drained into evaps. What few chores there are we ask people to volunteer for- which generally means handling 1 small thing every other day.

Our frontage is also evolving- we will have a stage area & plenty of covered frontage space. Our events vary, & we also invite others to use our frontage for their own performances- our way of sharing the esplanade frontage. We have a DJ area & Stage for any type of performances.

Any member of camp is welcome to plan an event in the space- we simply coordinate the events schedule. Some events are advertised, many we do spur of the moment.

Obviously, as a group this is expensive, but compared to providing everything for yourself, our camp dues are cheap.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

People with the time & the desire to spend a few weeks on the playa & WHO UNDERSTAND WHAT IT TAKES TO PLAY THIS HARD! I’m really hoping to find some experienced burners who would love the opportunity to be a part of the planning, administrative, and creative process to create our camp, & who would appreciate our central location & our beautiful esplanade sunrises! (we’re usually on Esplanade & 7, sometimes 7:30)

Our camp? C.R.T.T.- (we do the ‘silence of the lambs dance contest’, if you’ve ever seen it…)

I know our perfect fit is out there.

...except a compelling project/idea/thing for people to enjoy and, most importantly, for the hard workers youre looking for to feel a part of. this sounds like its just a stage? with a sound system and a dome?

while that is nice, and indeed a good thing to offer up, there's tons of these empty domes out on the playa that are always open for people to have an event/thing already

you surely are right about the need for people with fresh ideas. this post is all about the awesome perks of living at this place. But there is not much reason to want to work there.. because you dont really go much in to what you guys do, what your purpose is.. what makes you you.. (it aint the hot and cold running water)

it should be the opposite.. this should be all telling us all about the awesome stuff you guys do, stuff thats really important and awesome and creative and cool, the stuff that makes you guys feel like a kickass group.. that kinda stuff that bound you together and makes you feel like what you do is somehow unique and special....... and then once they are interested in working, like, behind the scenes, and not even posted here, you mention that you also get to have these certain living conditions..

you see.. the work should be the selling point.

i mean, the living conditions are something that allow you to do the work.. they aren't a perk, or a reason to be there... you can camp nicely out there without working.
