Parade of human and renewable energy powered transportation

Yes. This project is debated on the 2012 MV forum but it also involves bikes, pedestrians and several known zombies. Not only MVs.

So please don’t move this thread.

And for all people using renewable energy based transportation at Burning Man. Attention. We want to meet.

What we have in mind is a parade Thursday 30 August around 17-19 and the invitation goes out to all that use transportation solutions powered by a renewable energy source. Besides MVs we’d love to see lots of bikers, tri-bikes, unibikes, stilt walkers, pedestrians, strippers and... well, just about anybody that is powered by a renewable energy source to get from A to B.

The route is shaped as a "CO2" to visualize a question we all face. With the help of a Smartphone App participants in the parade can be followed live on the web and function as live “brushes” with the playa functioning as a huge "canvas".

We are aware that mobile reception in BRC is not very reliant but there are ways to work around this. And it is by NO means a must to download the APP to join the parade. And if you happen to know the solution don't hesitate to let us know. We're Danish.

We’ve asked on the 2012 MV list what the interest is and equally like to hear what bikers and other burners has to say about the idea.

Interesting, but the same time as the eplaya meet n greet, so I won't be attending.

That is at the same time as the C.O.R.E. Burns.

The ORG does not allow any vehicles inside the burn area (between the regional effigies and the Man) before or during the burn, for obvious safety reasons. If I am reading your map correctly, that should not be a problem.

Sounds interesting. Sorry, I will be at the Meet & Greet, and the C.O.R.E. Burns, and probably somewhere else too.

It doesn't look like his route(the number 2) will interfere with the CORE perimeter, but I would like to see him attempt to successfully make the number "2" with nothing but a guess that they are doing it right.

And BTW, all of those routes combined is over 6 miles long, many riders will not commit to that much distance as history has shown.

Plus, if it takes more than say ... 15 minutes many potential participants will get distracted by their playa-A.D.D.

Meet at the Man Thursday at 1630h if you’re ready to join "CO2 Green Drive" and show how to get from A to B in style using human and renewable energy powered transportation solutions. Yes. We want all you electric people to show your colors and join us when we complete a CO2 shaped route on the open playa starting from the Man. With the help of a smartphone Application all can be part of a GPS CO2 shaped "tag" as we parade our way through Black Rock City. Essentially, we will all be live brushes, smartphone technology the paint and Black Rock City our playground and canvass. And if you prefer to enjoy your Burning Man experience off-line there is no need to download the APP. Just hop along and join the parade.

The concept stems from the experimental Art, Climate & Technology Project “CO2 Green Drive” devised in connection with the UN Climate Summit COP15 in Copenhagen/December 2009. Since 2009 the project has been performed 23 times in 19 cities on five continents "tagging" these with citywide CO2 "paintings". In April 2012 the project was performed simultaneously in 12 cities on five continents.

Using art and culture as a universal language CO2 Green Drive seeks to promote a sustainable and fertile future in all its aspects. It's time art shows the way via physically engaging, playfull and fun activities supporting abundant life everywhere. Around the world this has included bikers and skaters in Dakar, electric vehicles in New York and runners in India. At Burning Man we hope to see lots of bikes, tri-bikes- quadro-bikes, pedestrians, stilt walkers, bunnies, things we don't even know how to name and electric art cars ... and, well, perhaps with a couple of zombies thrown in. As long as your mode of transportation is based on renewable technology we can’t wait to ROCK the dust with you.
