This is an insideout denim dress. xx Large, slit up the front, threads pulled off to make fringe and a lightweight leather skirt sewn onto the back. I think it looks like wings when I walk.

This brown and gold skirt has an elastic waist band of 38-42 inches. It just needed some ruffle. (and lots of dust).

I love the crinkly material of this XXXLG skirt. I didn't even bother to rip open the seam. I cut it, folded it over a couple of times, sewed and used a sash for the tie. Very colorful instant cape. It sways.

The dress was a size 5 and I'm a 10. Soooooooooo...I'll be wearing it like a pinafore. I opened the seams from the hem to the wrist, (leaving only the fancy cuffs to slip my hands into). Now I can throw on some leopard pants and a sparkly bra and be ready for 'The Brides of March'. Of course it's coming with me to the desert this year. I feel pretty, oh so pretty......

If costumes are out of your 'comfort zone' you can sew some favorite t-shirt pieces on a cool jacket or shirt. Yes. It's a fact. Not everyone wants to dress up. This is a shiny black police jacket.

There is something particularly wonderful about the words "Quality Control Supervisor" being attached to a jacket with safety pins.

This was interesting. It'a a velvet bolaro with some stretch velvet from a dress sewn around the bottom.Then I started snipping.

The cut up part bounces and has a kind of bustle in back. Fun.

Simple but very eye-catching. (Especially if your eye falls out and gets snagged in the trim.) I sewed one of those knitted scarves around the hood and front of a short sleeved sweater.

Don't worry. Ratty never moops. That's one of the great things about up-cycling used clothing. It's 'mooping' days are over. Any errant threads have long ago fallen off. Everything I make passes the shaken, beaten, dragged behind the car test. I would LOVE to wear some of my sequined and beaded clothes but I can't trust 10,000 pieces to stay on. I stick to shiny fabrics when I want bling. I'm currently working on my poop patrol outfit. I'm VERY excited at the prospect of replacing toilet paper and hand sanitizer with robbidobs. (Go figure).

Hey! This 'making slices' in fabric turns out to be a cool conversion tool. This stretchy, bouncy, heavy synthetic skirt makes a great cape. I just slit it up the back. (no finishing seams necessary.) I left some fabric intact close to the front edges. Snip, snip and sewed a sash, that I cut in half, onto the collar at the top. The elastic waistband makes it comfortable around my shoulders. I think I could snip a bed sheet and make it into one of those camo sun shades.

Wow. That was fun. It took 30 minutes to turn this ugly, long, stretchy skirt into a bouncy cape. It'll look great with bunny ears.
