No feathers and no glitter! While making your costumes make sure choose fabric that isn't going to shed and moop up the playa. Even though a costume may look cute... First time burner hoping to go this year.

I've been really putting a lot of thought into Playa footwear and have settled on Altama desert boots and various trainers. My question is this:

How silly will I look in shorts and boots? Are there boots that can pull off the look? I know that comfort comes first; I am just asking in case there is some sort of outfit or combination I havent considered that would satisfy the footwear department and still work with shorts. If there isnt, Im just going to go with the boots and wear thin pants when I can and shorts otherwise

Im not really worried about it, but if I can put something together that is more aesthetically streamlined, then that is preferable. Ill take comfort and utility any day, though. Looks are a distant second

Some people recommend multiple shoes, helps with not rubbing blisters and all.

Yeah--like Fishy said, if anyone gives you shit, they are overstepping themselves. Clothes on the playa run the gamut from completely plain and serviceable, to absolutely mindblowing. Comfort is first.

However, if you have any costume-y impulses whatsoever, bring something fun that you can't get away with in normal life . . . or visit one of the costume camps, if you pass one, or see one listed in the What/When/Wear guide you'll receive at Greeter's, just past Gate.
