I noticed these log carved out to make some sort if burner or stove. Was distracted by the cashier, ringing up my stuff, and naturally remembered them one month later. Anyone buy one? Or remember what they were calling them?

I already have the number, but try not getting into the practice of calling Gerlach or Empire, everytime I have a simple question...I know a couple people in Empire and Gerlach who attend, but I know for a fact, they use burn barrels.

I was told they burn up, a one shot deal...good heaters at tourists/local campgrounds.

Maybe you'd be able to fry some bacon and eggs in a giant pan but after that, The End.

my pals just burned their's into ahses as far as I recall.

I stand corrected, they can be used a few times as a stove or camp fire.

From what I witnessed they're still too MOOPY for me unless I had a fire pit, or some such platform like a big hub cap on cinder blocks etc????...what an unsightly hassle.

I think "it's good for lighting a camp fire pit in a classy way" this is about what I'd use this for.

I like the twig fueled rocket stove suggestion the most. Talk about some great gifts...hahaha...mini camp fires...for that matter the cut log stoves would also be hot gifts for campmates or neighbors. (still need a platform to burn cut logs)

These cut logs and the rocket stove were probably invented by a burner or future burner...hahaha...very clever designs! nts~collect twigs~ for FREE design of Rocket Stove...looks like this one can be placed on top of a $2.00 cinder block on the playa for a burn scar platform in camp.

For that matter, maybe a $2.00 flat stepping stone could be used on a table top for the rocket stove....sweet! Smoke and Dust...mmm mmmm good! grrr...
(I'm totally considering the tiny back pack stove is clean and handy and worth the few extra $'s for that "I want some right now" morning coffee!)

I keep finding myself coming back to the one piece of camping gear I own that has never failed me. If I keep 3 cylinders of white gas around...or can get some unleaded gas my MSR camp stove always works. It's easy to setup, easy to use, and it even works at altitude which when you live above 7500 ft becomes quite important and many things don't work up here. For me it's all about those BTU's and getting it done. I'll keep looking at whatever new thing comes along but my MSR gear is hard to beat.

7,500 feet! You got me beat at 6,500...ain't it grand...average snow fall is 50 to 80 feet per winter. Thank MAN for the invention of the snow plow! (oh, yeah...shovel too ) brrrrr...soon only chair lifts will bring we to the sun!

One of my favorite cylinder fire kewl thing was a handmade metal flower and stem that attached to the coleman cylinder and the flame coming from the middle of the flower could be turned up and down...made a nice safe fire piece.

Does anyone know where I can get some of those? (not lazy here, just busy and like to support other artists, I'll stick to my fire cocktail shows)
