I'll be bringing bolt cutters; 14", 24", and 36"; lock pick sets; padlock defeaters, and vehicle entry tools.
And... I'll be bringing my locksmith's license .
I'm not the best entry guy, but if someone is locked out of their vehicle or lost their padlock key, AND they can provide proof of ownership or ID and fill out an identity-affadavit form, it'd be nice to save them having to break a window or do ??? to a bike they're locked out from.
I'm also bringing a key punch that can crank out keys for Master brand locks. I will have none of this "I only have one key" bullshit! You come see me . I will make you a spare or two, see if I don't.
I can hand duplicate keys with files and will be bringing blanks for most padlock brands.

Public bikes that jackasses padlock will be liberated. Though I suspect a Ranger throwing some jedi mind tricks their way would be a sweeter spectacle with less personal arse risking.

That is so great! I'm very self-sufficient but having someone like you around is always a blessing. Someone saved my butt two years ago when I realized my battery was dead and had forgot my battery jumper. I'm sure you will play hero to at least a couple burners.

We're locked out of our car." (campmate had locked and closed the doors, forgetting that the keys were inside).

Grabbed a metal coathanger and hitched a ride over with them. Bent the wire like a tool I've seen before, put it under the window and just pressed the button.

As "payment" I requested that they all come and help lamplight that evening.

MMyLarry has a slim jim set under the seat and has unlocked a few vehicles in Hushville. Once he got the wire in the window and just punched the unlock button on the visible keyfob which had been left on the seat.

Oh no! What have I started???
I should throw in a few disclaimers. I'm a hobby locksmith who decided to get licensed, registered, and bonded so I wouldn't have to worry about posession of my tools. I mainly help out friends and neighbors so they don't have to pay $200 to get thru their own front door. And strangers in parking lots or out in the forest locked out of their cars or campers. Campers are an effing breeze, eek!
Padlocks, house locks, setting up master key systems, and safe & vault work are my main areas of expertise. Vehicles not so much except getting creative with 48" welding rods and door buttons. My vehicle set is 15 yrs old. As a rule I dont touch them expensive newer cars. Maybe if the owner swears up and down they won't hold me liable for scratches, dents, dings, etc. I do have an Audi / Porsche / Saab / VW pick tool that can give me 50-60% odds of picking the door / trunk lock. Sometimes.
On the newer cars it's usually "which window do you want to lose? Driver or passenger side..." That's what the center punch is for
I can't imagine walking from 3 & B to like 10 & H to do a lockout, my leg will go out, ow.
Not to say I won't try. Gotta practice LNT. A locked vehicle with three skeletons around it is some pretty heavy duty moop.
I just kinda worry about doing a quarter marathon limp just to have to say "sorry, the window is gonna hafta go but here's some Homeland Security grade duct tape and plastic...".
If I have room for a bike I'll certainly bring it.

Blah blah blah. I guess what I'm trying to say is please, please bring two spares of every car and padlock key you're going to be using. A few dollars is cheaper than the alternative. I'll tote along some extra padlocks just in case...

One of my favorites. The round padlock defeater. It crushes the security nut up through the trapdoor on American 700 series padlocks. Also have the square defeater for Am 2000, 3000, & 7000 series. Also allows drilling the shearline.

I've been using a lot of the master 6327 shroudeds, if I have the model right.
Many attacked, none defeated so far.

I'm planning on changing to the american puck locks on my storage, or maybe multilock.
Any thoughts?

I want to upgrade the hasp shroud.

I brought cutters for green bikes and then never found any locked last time.

I got very frustrated trying to find one for someone stranded after their bike was stolen.
Found one outside a bar locked to two other bikes.
Afraid I did rather a lot of damage trying to get the bikes apart.
People saw me, but decided to go the other direction.

Foxfur, you're right about some of the euro stuff.

Even from the sixties, italian cars are quite hard to defeat.
In the early seventies, the lancias used side drilled keys, $25 to copy.

The fiats used a clever geometry to defeat shims, plus steel blocking.

My volvo has more pins than my house locks.
Much easier than the the italian stuff though.

I've used medeco and lock technology protection on gms, plus the steadfast shroud.
Only way to keep one here.

The original ignition lock on gms was a $3 piece, not fit to lock a desk drawer.

Puck lock good. Mul-T-Lock great. I have a pin kit for Mul-T's. The puck locks are one of the best.
There are methods of easily defeating most padlocks but they're somewhat noisy, very visible to others, some require special tools, some just a Dremel or a .223 (logging gates when the landlord loses a key, can't get anything but a Mini-14 muzzle in the lock column). Most criminals will move on to easier marks. The 6327 can be defeated in 2-3 min but not secretly or without noise.
Of course theres always picking, bumping, rapping, and shimming which can take only seconds .

Maybe I make too much of vehicles. Most I've opened go in thru the top between body and door with wood / plastic wedges or air wedge. Then use a button tool, super killer tool, lasso tool, or coathanger:)

Sometimes I sell myself short out of not wanting to set up overrealistic expectations. I'm a crafty li'l bastard and pull of some neat tricks tho.

It'd sure be nice to help someone so they wouldn't have that hanging over their heads during their burn. Unresolved nightmares are a buzzkill.

HPC 1200CMB 'Blitz' code cutting machine w/ Medeco triaxial head, tubular key rig and cutter wheels to make almost any key. Also called an originator it allows you to make first generation keys, replace worn keys, and cut by blind codes (those funny numbers on the key bow).

I've got a sick li'l tool called the Peterson mini-knife that opens those 4-wheel combo locks in the top of the pic. Does it in less than 10seconds, doesn't damage em, and leaves no trace. I would highly recommend using one of these locks (4 wheel combo). you can write the combo somewhere, tell it to a friend, and the combo is easliy changeable. It can avoid so many problems.

In the world at large, solar panel theft is growing, so it could start at BM anytime. Good neighbors keeping an eye out for one another is a help and being off the street too. There is a large solar RV subcommunity - getting panels up and out of sight on top of your camp or RV is one approach.

So far our plan is to secure the panels to the roof of the truck. I was actually more worried about losing the components that collect the energy and serve it up for use.

If it is valuable, lock it up. BRC is a city like any other city and opportunistic freeloaders will help themselves to what they think they can get away with. Burn night is the worst for reported thefts since most everyone is at the man that night, but it can happen at any time you leave stuff unattended.

We lock our bus up when we leave camp and I have a secured lockbox inside the locked bus for the really valuable stuff.

By nature, thieves are lazy bastards, unless they know for a fact there is something of value behind that locked door, they will move on to the next camp where the door is unlocked, the easily carried Honda EU2000 or 5 gallon gas can is not cable locked to the rear axle of a bus.

We always have a rear guard in camp/the village for burn nights. We light our area with street lights as well so we are even less appealing to would be thieves.

Most of us are also not of the non-confrontational mindset so it would wind up being a very bad night for a would be thief to decide to "victimize" us for their loot.

Did you notice that the 2500 puck is spring loaded?

You can shroud all but space for the pin to come out.
3" id pipe works.
I have some stainless pipe.
Not as cranky as the regular puck.

Note also that the stepped puck will fit on the heavy master hasps.
Very handy.

I'm with you there. I installed high security EVVA 3KS deadbolts on the doors. Pick-proof (or as close as you can get) bump-proof, etc.
I tell friends that it GUARANTEES no one's gonna come thru the door.
They'll come through a window instead !
