And then there's that advice on water drinking... Getting up multiple times is ridiculous...but once or twice is good hydration.

Actually, squatting is healthy, but most western women aren't used to the position. I didn't mind the Japanese floor toilets at all, although my aim was often off to the side. Now and then you see footprints up next to the seat in the portos.
I'm too jaded to think up a good sig-line. Need more coffee.

It takes years of practice to develop good aim  and some grown men never manage it. :?

Squatting can better than sitting even, yeah, it's the combination of flexion & relaxation that does it.

Bladder muscles are involuntary ("smooth") muscles and very different from pelvic muscles, which are voluntary and squeezable. They can both be trained but the technique is very different. It's like the difference between weight training and cardio. Bladder capacity will increase or decrease in response to demand. Toned pelvic & sphincter muscles are helpful for increasing your bladder capacity but, are not sufficient by themselves to make any difference. You have to train. 8)

So, since this seems to be the general 'pee' thread, and not just about pee funnels any more, we have an odd question.
Um... how much does a person pee in a night? Is one laundry detergent bottle enough for 2 people? Do we each need our own detergent bottle?

This will be the first year in the last couple that we aren't bring the RV. We got pretty spoiled having a toilet 5 feet from the bed. So, we're not playing that "throw on a coat, find some sort of pants, and some sort of shoes and hike to the porta jots" bull shit again. We've never done the pee jug in the tent concept.

Measure now. in the comfort of your own home.

and of course there are variations. It might differ on and off the playa for you. I'm betting that if people actually answer that there will be a range, and you wont know where you fall. How large a detergent bottle? because I'm wondering why you'd think that was even an issue.

Not that odd of a question, really. In fact, you ought to get points for originality. Where's Illy Dilly's point tally? Someone! Anyone!

You should each have your own detergent bottle in the 75-78 oz. range, minimum. Bigger might be better, although you still gotta dump it out once per day so it doesn't start to assert itself. I can't remember for sure how many occasions fit in one bottle. At least 2. Possible more. But I don't know how your volume may vary from mine or when you're consciously very well-hydrated like you are on the playa; this is why it's good to have, say: a red bottle for you, and the blue bottle for her and individual ownership, Of course you could share, if you absolutely had to, but it's better not to--that way, there's no dithering in the night and in the dark and shining a flashlight inside it, wondering if you have to take a walk because someone else has taken up the space. (Fishy's right, practicing at home might tell you something if not everything about volume.) If your girl hasn't used a funnel and bottle combo before, encourage her to practice at home anyway, because not having done so can cause shy bladder (I couldn't bring myself to use a pee funnel for all of 2009, even though I actually had one that year). It takes a little practice. Having the t.p. pre-ripped helps, as does standing like a man.

I can't believe I post this stuff on the internetz.

Can we take those clear ones to Pimp Your Bike camp and cover them with fur?

They have a pretty big mouth, but I'm not sure fur would be my first choice.

Very true! Probably should just experiment..... But, I don't think my boss would be very happy about me doing that at work, lol.
And thanks for the tips on the T.P. and all that jazz.

I'm currently running at a -3.6, so all the points help
