Has anyone used this combo in the past. Do you know if the tent in it's full shape will fit inside a carport with the sides on?
Based on the dimensions of a Kodiak tent it looks like it would be snug, but would fit: 10' x 10' x 6.6' (L x W x H)
Thoughts, suggestions & feedback are all welcome

Thanks in advance.

Knowing what I know of playa shade/cooling, you'd want to have at least a foot on each side and above between the tent and the shade. The sun hit's the shade material and radiates heat in all directions. Based on that, a 10x20 carport wouldn't be big enough just based on the sides. If it's tall enough for the tent, you might want to consider rigging two carports together (to get 20x20), or look at a conduit frame structure.

Could you angle the carport so it's facing north and have the tent extrude for a foot on that side? Or even stick a couple of poles so that the side isn't touching?

You could replace your side poles with emt. They come in 10 ft pieces but you could cut those down to 8ft.Thats what i did last year.

I think the Kodiak will work fine in your 10x20 carport if you replace the side poly tarps with shade mesh tarps. I added a 10x20 silver tarp under the original canopy cover, and that helps keep the heat from soaking through the top. I do like the idea of two carports connected together for a shaded hang out area in front to the tent.

I might consider the idea of just angling the carport to shade a majority of the day, but mostly concerned with the morning.
Haven't purchased it yet which is why I was curious if anyone had tried it. The idea of the shade cloth is a good one too.

This is the combo that good friends have used for years.
- Costco 10x20 carport
- Old area rug underneath
- 8 ft dome tent under on one side
- sofa or loveseat on the side of the living area
- only the long side across from the couch open facing to 9 away from prevailing winds
- Decorate as you see fit
Voila. Home sweet comfy ass home.
