but training sessions are 6 hour shifts - not short.
Oops. This is a different training. Your first work shift is your training shift, so it is not the training I was referring to. Additionally, that 6-hour training shift is not required for those working only exodus:
If you are intending to work any Gate or Perimeter shifts, you must first attend an on-playa training prior to working any other shifts. You may sign up pre-playa for other shifts in the schedule after your training shift, but you must pass your training shift before working Gate or Perimeter shifts. Click the “Training” schedule in GASMS to sign up for your training shift. Those only working Exodus are not required to attend a training shift (Exodus is trained on-the-job), though you are highly encouraged to do so!
emphasis mine.
Those who have volunteered before get the abbreviated training. Our training lasts about 45 minutes if I remember correctly, and our training session does
not count as a shift. Sorry for my confusion; hope this clears it up.
TL;DR Exodus volunteers get on the job training and don't need
any separate training sessions. Volunteer for exodus and work that day, getting permission to stay over.
