How much space can we take?

We r a Non theme camp

2 to 6 burners

Go big? Even if we end up only being a few?

I would suggest that you only take what you need to set up all your tents and vehicles. If you stretch the area and leave lots of open gaps, you are going to find squatters setting up tents in your open areas.
It's fine balancing act and an art to get just the right amount of camp space.

If you only have 2-6 people, figure out the space you need for yourselves & your vehicles and a common area for the shade structure. Only take that amount of space.

If you simply must have a large amount of space to fulfill some weird issues, camp on the back streets where it's less likely to fill in.

Time to change your thinking- not "how much can we take?", but "how much do we really need?"; it's part of that whole "community" thing.

We have 20x20shade structure
Where our tent and converted 1970 pop
Up lives under? Which acts as our kitchen.
We dont have to be close but, would rather be closer then n let's say j street

Don't worry about space. Instead make a plan of attack for how you will find a suitable camp area. What part of the city do you want to locate your camp based on your needs/interests. The city does have neighborhoods with differing character. Set your camp up before hand and measure it's length and width. It will be good practice and will tell you exactly how much space you will need. Think logistics and process.

Good idea....even drawing it out will help. Keep in mind, finding the spot you'd like is best done on Monday. Due to technical problems, I came in on Tuesday...and wound up at 9:45 and H. Turns out I had a great time with my neighbors. Speaking of witch....before setting up camp, its nice to meet your neighbors and tell em your plans.

Idea: Plan it as if it's a theme camp.

-Lay it out ahead of time as best as you can.
-Look at the map of theme camps etc when it finally comes out, and decide what you want to be close to.
-Then get in as early as you can so you have a good choice of territory.
-If you have more than one vehicle coming in at different times, then you have to do some fancy thinking.

But mostly, take it easy, don't stress out, have a sense of humor and prepare to adapt to change.

If you drive in late at night or in the wee hours and decide to crash for the night, be sure to get up early to stake out your space as it will soon begin to be encroached upon...or take a few minutes when you arrive before sleeping to deploy the engineers tape.

Just build some huge shade structures, and you'll have your space without encroachment. A 30' diameter dome and a 30x30 flat roof canopy should give you the space you need without you appearing like land grabbers.

Important to note as well, stay flexible with your layout. It is best to park your vehicles on the windward side of your shade and shelters. That wind is South-SouthWest. The 7:30 Avenue runs straight East to West from The Man outward, and 4:20 errrr 4:30 runs North to South. If you have a peaked shade structure, place the eve side into the winds for better shade and wind resistence.

I agree with what everyone is saying. Are you talking about a 1970 pop up van or a 1970's EZ Up?

Also, 1 tent for 2-6 people?? 2 to a tent, MAX!! Otherwise you'll always be at each others throats.

Typical?
Had a guy sleep outside my tent in a windstorm.
I asked why he didn't knock and come in for shelter, and he said he just wanted a windbreak.
Remember him when it gets tough out there.

To be fair, it was just as dusty inside the tent.
