Never tried em but using a 3 foot steel pipe to drive em, I imagine they'd hold pretty well.

Hard to tell without knowing the diameter of the center rod, quality of the welds, etc. For comparison, the anchors for the Cafe are 5/8" x 40" with a single helix at the bottom and the eye at the top welded closed, I believe.

those look like they would work maybe tied down directly to the tent or shade structure

if any issue I'd see with em, would be, the extended auger assembly.
the playa is quite dense, once you get down a foot or so.
But, as long as the center rod is good strong steel, it should grab and hold fine.
Also, it seems to depend on the angle of attack on the auger.
Some, for me, seem to "screw in" better than others. The only difference bing the angle of the auger bite.

Make a pilot hole first, and you won't have any problems with them going in, add water to the hole also and they will cement themselves in place .

Be advised that if you want DPW/Heavy Machine to drive your screw anchor, their anchor driver attachments accept a 1/2 inch wide eye. I'm not sure if 5/8" would fit. I brought some anchors w/ 3/4" wide eyes and they did not fit the anchor driver.

I haven't specifically checked out the screw-in anchors used at the Man - they may be larger. I seem to recall seeing larger eyes on the screw-in anchors for a tall antenna tower by Center Camp. But, those 4-footers in the photos above are what the DPW/Heavy Machine crew typically uses for artwork, structures, etc. They should be good to 5000 pounds or so of force.

Yeah, 5/8" bar on the shaft & 1/2" on the head for the 40" anchors available from local rigging and vineyard suppliers.
