Point taken on the intrinsic hypocrisy, Ugly, but it is a little different. Despite appearances, the playa is a delicate thing. And those water puddles leave dips that can prove fatal. The dips are invisible, and most of the year open to vehicle access.
In October 1997, I went out with my son to do some cleanup, and then watch Andy Green break the land speed record just down the road a piece. He went over 700 mph. That was a good day.

evap ponds that don't work are typically those that are undersized and ill-positioned. They also require a bit of sweeping. Impose a cut-off period so the pond can fully dry before it is rolled up and placed back in storage.
IF that fails try adding red food dye to the pond. This allows you to dump the water (which is no longer gray) directly onto the playa. Also, consider camping next to the portapotties and running 1" pvc hooked up to a sub-pump from the evap pond into one of the loos. It works.
