A message from your playa bars: **BRING MIXERS!!**

As most of you know, every year around Thursday-Friday and sometimes sooner.. the mixers start getting scarce. The half empty plastic bottles of gut rot vodka start piling up.. liquor is usually abundant.. but mixers.. not so much.


So, this year.. when you're doing your shopping.. throw in an extra gallon or five of Gatorade.. extra flat of cans of energy drink/soda/whatever.. a few cans of concentrated juice with extra water jugs.. whatever..

PLEASE REMEMBER TO BRING EXTRA MIXERS FOR YOUR FAVORITE BARS!!

Our camp has discussed this before, but I'll bring up again that it's a good idea for each camp member to bring a few 2-liter bottles of mixer to gift to bars they visit. It's good to gift booze to the bars until Wed or Thurs, and then switch to gifting mixer.

Do you have any pointers as to what kinds of mixers might be needed?

Seltzer water for those of us that like the fizz, but not the flavor or extra calories!

Any type of Coca-Cola or Pepsi/Sprite would work.

We mount a brass bell onto the vertical EMT pole near our bar. We ring it each time somebody makes a donation.

I usually just drink soda water with my liquor, and was given a soda stream this year for Xmas. I think I will be bringing it out to the playa this year as well to keep in my yurt They work great, and turn water into soda water in seconds. Unlimited supply.

You can seal the bottles after you carbonate it, but they will eventually go flat, especially if you open them a lot.

BTW, this seems to only work on water, not drinks... I've tried to carbonate flat beer and fruit juice and it usually ended with a foamy fountain spraying everywhere in my kitchen.

The CO2 canister lasts a pretty long time, but if you're going to be serving a lot of drinks might want to bring a few of them.

I've heard great things about those. I asked someone about their's and she said they make a litre of seltzer water (club soda) a day and each filter lasts about a month... Anyone ever brought one to the playa?

They don't require power, which is great. Just a battery for the LEDs depending on your model. There are two sizes of CO2 canisters you can get. One makes 30L and the other makes 60L of soda water.

Yes, only do water to carbonate, you can flavor after with little syrup packets they sell or fruit juice. If you try to carbonate something other than water you will have a fountain. I don't bother with anything other than the occasional squeeze of lime in mine. Carbonation lasts quite a while as long you keep it sealed. It only makes 1L at a time, no bigger bottle options, so you will go through it quickly and can just make another

Yes. You can get extra CO2 and bottles for it online or at places like Bed Bath and Beyond. Mine came with one and I bought 2 extra.

There IS jewelry gifting, for sure, but there tends to be a fetish for the meaningful or useful . . . figures of the Man & the year, or tools or small lights as pendants.

I remember reading this last year and have placed it in a vault deep in my memory. I don't imbibe in alcoholic beverages myself, but I like gifting, so I'll bring a bunch of mixers to the bars so they can deliver delicious concoctions to you drunken fools. Maybe gatorade so I can drink it straight if needed. I'll bring red bulls but probably will give thos out on an individual basis. That ish is expensive homey

I bring what I would want to drink as my non-alcoholic beverage, 7up, tonic water, ginger ale, fruit juice, then what I don't gift (and I don't usually gift as much as I bring, since I don't visit many bars) I leave with the DPW on my way out of the city.
