Gifting packaged food?

I know the rules changed this year in regard to needing a Nevada state health dept. license in order to gift food. However, one thing I haven't been able to determine (despite a fair amount of looking...) is if this applies to packaged foods. In particular canned drinks, freezee-pops, etc. that are only opened by the recipient.

We're not getting in until Wednesday evening and will probably be bringing a bunch of freezee-pops with us, but don't want to get into any trouble if we give some out when we're coming in or Thursday during the day.

AntiM is correct (as always). I bring trays of breakfast pastries from Costco. They are wrapped in cellophane and sealed for "freshness". There would never be a problem passing out anything that sealed in a factory wrapper. Unfortunately you just can't bring any type of chocolate unless you can keep it on ice for the week. A Zagnut by Wednesday would be so good!

Health permits have been required for a while, I think this year they expanded it to camp kitchens for the bigger camps (125 or more). But yeah, as has been mentioned food that's still in the package that doesn't spoil at playa temps is okay. The intention is to limit/prevent the spread of food-borne illness. So gifting sealed cartons of milk, probably a bad idea. Freezee pops, hell yeah! The worst that could happen is they get juice.
