Don't worry Joe, it's not that they're not worthwhile events, but they're not "DECOPMPRESSION."

As far as I know, LA has never gotten it's shit together enough to have one major all-encompassing decompresion party...

although there are rumors that might change this year (rumor says Oct 18).

Now I've got a dumb-ass smiley and mis-information! the 18th, not the 1st! It's rumor anyway, and therefore likely to change, but still, I'm irritated...

Pets--I know nothing of anything Mutaytor sept 20 &21. Last i heard, they may be doing a show out of state that weekend. What is the 4th? I hard a "pre-decompression rumor" for that date.

The art show sounds cool; I might go to that.

Yeah, that's pretty short notice.

Given the time, resources and connections, LA could ahve one seriously kick ass decompression. I guess I'm just to jaded to believe it'll actually get pulled off, though. Sigh. I put out my $0.02 that I would help out any ways necessary, though.

Hoi Inge, Ik heb je helemaal niet gezien dit jaar, jammer. Ik hoop dat je een fijne burn had, ik wel. Was met mijn 3 broers en hun vrouwen, en nog 10 mensen, first timers, in Joycamp! Dat was super, langer gebleven, harder gepartied, meer geslapen, meer vrienden gemaakt. Helaas, was op 5:30, dus nogal ver weg van Pinky's, maar natuurlijk belandden wij daar om een uur of 5 de burn night, en ja hoor, je kunt op Pinky's altijd rekenen. Anyway, hoop om je te zien Vrijdag, anders op de Oct 4 feest. Doooooeeeeiiii. Matt.

It was great to meet so many e-playans at Nova last night!
Especially, deeohgeeman, Lucifer, madmatt (who unknowlingly got me started on this crack addiction called eplaya) as well as people I already knew, some of whom I hadn't seen in a while.
Was it decied to continue the gatherings or is it just whenever?

Hi Nova e playans! Last night was waaaayy cool. We were hurting so bad to re connect and dying for the big parties, but it was so nice to have a situ where we could actually talk (and not be so tweaked as at the parties). It was great meeting you Lighthouse, Zorka, Trish, Jenny, Ting, Venus, Yo and Lucifer. Great seeing you again Inge, let's make sure we see you on the playa next time. Great seeing you Alexiis, you get my vote for the best newbiew-with-the-veteran-burner-attitude.

One hightlight - hearing from Inge about the cacophony society roots of some bm activity and learning what the cacophony society actually is and does (you guys are weird - there, I said it).

Can't wait to see you guys Oct 4!!! Inge, please keep inviting us all out to Nova! Matt.

I was a lurker on the previous incaration of the eplaya since the time I heard about BM, I'd say mid-2000. A friend invited me to attend in 2001 but I chose not to go, but still surfed the eplaya on a fair basis.
But it wasn't until 2002, after I had been to BM and started hanging out at the local parties, when the Mutaytor party at the Santa monica hangar got shut down, that i started posting. I remember you started a thread about it, and, although I don't recall what the exact issue was, you said something that i disagreed with so strongly that I just HAD to say something...

And the rest is history.

Hahahaha. I remember that. I was so pissed that party was cancelled. I knew you would be one of those people who disagree with me.

One of the things I love most about BM and the people is that even the people who piss you off or are assholes end up giving you something. 2001, my first year, I ran into this very authentic looking Nazi. I'm offended instinctively by the very sight of Nazi symbolism. But he was a trash Nazi, yelling at people to pick up there trash, and spanking trace leavers with his riding crop. So it was a real challenge for me to accept that there was a guy out there whose radical self expression was so offensive to me.

And I had to accept that that was ok, and he was contributing something constructive and funny and original to BM. When I got back and started using the eplaya, I read that he was this guy named anthony and that he lived in my neighborhood in West Hollywood and had taken his own life about 5 days after returning from BM. There was this huge outpouring of mourning, rememberance and appreciation for this guy who was this great performance artist. I was really moved by it, and now I'll remember him the rest of my life.

I had a blast too last Friday!

Isn't it nice to be able to talk to each other ??
That's why I did all these Nova gatherings. But because not too many people showed up last year I got a little discouraged and only wanted to do one this year. But Cary said he'll do all the "advertising" and work from now on so I think we might be on for another year. yeah!

So , please keep coming and bring more people!

And for all those newbies out there..this is a perfect chance to get to know some more burners.

The *official* LA Decompression Street Fair is coming up, Saturday Oct. 18,
(or possibly Sunday the 19th), 2pm - 2am, in downtown LA.

The party will occupy approximately one city block, with closed off streets
around the Blue Bongo Cafe ("Little Pedro's"), 1st & Vignes.

The Cafe and parking lot will also be part of the action.

We'll have two main music areas: one outdoor sound-stage for live music and
performance, and a dj-only system inside the Cafe.

Contact us ASAP with your proposals for art cars, theme camps, art
installations, interactive performance, ritual, healing, spoken word,
fire-dancing, music, info tables, interactive performance,
etc. Sorry, no vending. Gift away!

Please provide all pertinent details, such as amount of space/time
required, equipment if any, electricity access, # of people involved, etc.
-- plus contact phone numbers! (Please note: we don't have a budget for art,
so all projects must be self-funding.)

The tagline for the "Regional Events" topic here says:

Anyone have any idea what "sponsored" means in this context? Is the
goal to have us only post about LLC sponsored events? That's scary.

And, an unrelated question... anyone have any idea who is organizing this
downtown LA Decompression? Folks have been talking having one for
years -- seems like good news that someone is finally putting something
together.

From everyone I've talked to, apparently nobody. no body wuill confess to being the organizer, although a few people have admitted they are part of working on it.

The cloest I've come so far is Wolfie, but even he won't claim responsibility. I'll admit, I would want it, either.

The problem is that the date's not even confirmed, no one will cklaim to be in charge and everyone is passing the buck when you inquire. I'm relaly interested in performing and I've also said I would be more than willing to help set up, terar down, or do whatever else was needed, and I've gotten a very minimal lackluster response.

I'd be interested in any contact info you got from that email.
