SeaCORE*, the producing organization for regional artwork within the Circle of Regional Effigies (CORE) Project, is now accepting concept proposals for the art piece to represent our community at TEITD (The Event In the Desert) in 2013. Assuming the tradition of Regional Effigies continues, the final entry - chosen by popular vote - will be submitted for consideration by the BMOrg once their application process opens. Past specifications mandated the installation to be interactive, fit within a 20-foot cube, be able to withstand the rigors of participatory enthusiasm as well as extreme climate, and consist of eco-burnable materials. Its lifecycle will conclude in the collective CORE Burn. Prior to the Playa pilgrimage, Critical Massive is on the itinerary.
Are you one of the SeaCORE II visionaries? Then please submit a proposal that includes a written description (200 words or less) and some visuals (e.g., sketches, models, photos, scans). Also, be sure to include your contact information to enable communication with regard to your submission. Proposals will be accepted from individuals and groups, but group submissions must be presented by a single-point person authorized to act on the group’s behalf. Submissions must be transmitted electronically to firstname.lastname@example.org by midnight Monday, December 3, 2012.
Our wonder team of Artists, Engineers, Planners and Crackpots will examine all submissions and determine the ones most becoming of the spirit of our community and likely to attain placement in the aforementioned destinations. The preliminaries will be publicized on Monday, December 10, 2012, at which time everyone will be invited to vote for the finalist. Voting will run from Monday, December 10, through Sunday, December 16. If all goes well, we should be able to announce the chosen project on Monday, December 17.
The Man burns in 9 months. Whether or not Fertility 2.0 had anything to do with it, the next SeaCORE Project is due in 40 weeks. According to Burning Man, that's "20 biweekly meetings, and roughly 80 weekend workdays away". So don't delay - join us in nurturing our next common dream to life!
Yours truly, and burn on!
