Wanted: Large Tent, shade structure, and sound system.

Hi there,
I am the lead organizer for Camp Israel. I am search of a large shade structure/tent that will hold 250 people. I am severly inhibited financially. Do you have or know someone who has a very large structure that will survive BMs extreme weather? This tent will be very multipurpose for our camp. One night it will be a club. During the days it will be a gathering space. We also still need a sound system to make the club happen. I do not have experience in this area. And power for the system. Thank you for all of your help.

Burning Man Camp Israel List of Activities

Shuk- Famous Israeli Marketplace
Thursday 5-7pm Bring your wares to this burning man style marketplace to give and barter. Stop by for falafel, a Middle Eastern favorite food.

Dead Sea Spa
You are already baking in the sun. Why not add mud to your baking skin to replenish it from the harsh environment of the playa. We also have Dead Sea salt scrubs for your hands and feet. Bring water to rinse off. Know massage? Volunteer to give massages here. Bring massage tables if you have them.

Tel Aviv nightlife
Israel has some of the world’s best djs and nightclubs. In Tel Aviv, these amazing clubs are often on or near the beach. At burning man, our club is on the playa. Bring your most outrageous costume and glow gear to join the fun at Club Chai where we celebrate life.

Mystics of Tsfat.
Come receive the kabbalah on Saturday afternoon. Or come just to be painted blue, a very high-energy color. Kabbalah is Jewish mysticism. We will discuss the interconnectedness and oneness of the universe. We live in many layers of reality.

Judaism 101
Grew up where there weren’t any Jews around? Curious about what Judaism, the religion Christianity is based on, is all about? Stop by with your questions on Thursday at 2pm.

Jewish Story Hour. Center camp. 11am. Everyday. Every story has a moral, makes you think, and makes you smile.

Am Yisrael Chai
Love Israeli dancing and folk music? Or want to learn new dance steps. Stop by for an Israeli aerobic workout on Wednesday at 3pm. We will be at the beginner’s level and move slow. Everyone at all experience levels is welcome. Go mashuganah.

Kabbalat Shabbat-Friday Evening Shabbat Services
My dream is that all Jews at Burning Man will join us Friday evening at dusk to welcome the Shabbat together. You are not alone. You are not an outsider. Take a break from your wandering to be with your family.

Followed by a potluck!!? We are making Matzah ball soup. What are you bringing?

Havadalah at the Man
We mark the separation of Shabbat and the week by reviving our senses. Join your community at the base of the man to say goodbye to the restful period you just had and hello to the fulfilling week ahead of you.

I will try and help but you have your work cut out for you at this late of date.A tent holding 250 people(comfortably) would have to be at least 2,500 sq. feet(850 sq m).A decent used tent of this size and one that would withstand most playa challenges would sell for around $3-5 thousand.Double for new.Being financially limited is a relative term but I imagine "severely"may make this purchase difficult.Finding someone to donate or give you such an item would be harder.
I have researched,in my own tent purchasing endeavors,the tent market market well.How much do you have to spend?I may have an idea or two.
As far as music goes you may be able to rent some sound gear in Reno.Most,if they know where it is going,will refuse but again I have some contacts.But even if you can find someone to rent it is not cheap.Plus you need to know exactly how much sound you want.3000 watts is limit outside large scale sound art.
Power comes from generators.Unless one or more of your party brings an RV you are forced again to rent in Reno.Needless to say more money required and an idea of how much power you need is a must.

Hate to break your knee but this close to game time you'll be damn lucky to find someone willing to let you borrow a camping tent. What you've proposed is um, ambitious. Very ambitious. 250 people?

That's a hell of a lot of planning to take on. Smaller encampments than the one you propose take the better part of the year to assemble. If you've not been to BM before I'd suggest that you show up as a group (tribe?) get an idea of what's going on and ask a hell of a lot of questions from some of the larger groups. Head home and start planning for next year. Assume that NOTHING is going to be provided for you here except portable toilets. Also, keep in mind that large sound systems usually require a generator which you either buy or rent. Electricty is not provided for.

Shouldn't you have been looking for a tent and sytem alot earlier ?? It seems like you have waited too long and are going to have one heel of a time finding the items you need for your camp. Good luck with finding everything you need.
