Participant Services Has Left The Building!!!

Yes, it's true. The folks who man the partiserv(at)burningman(dot)com email address and handle requests for ticket verification and transfer of will call tickets has, in fact, left the building and departed for the playa (so they can get ticket operations set up at the gates).

What Does This Mean?

For changes to mail order or will call tickets, here are the instructions:

PARTICIPANT SERVICES wrote:The person you have designated to be able to pick up your tickets MUST have:

  • A letter signed by you, the original ticket holder. This letter MUST state that you have given/sold the tickets to the person now picking them up and have their full name in the letter. Example: I John Doe, sold my two will call tickets to Jane Smith and I'm authorizing her to pick them up.
  • A photocopy of your driver's license and a photocopy of the credit card used to purchase the tickets (you can black out the first set of numbers, just make sure the last 4 numbers can be read). Remember, the full name on the driver's license must be clear. We need to be completely sure that you have given/sold your tickets to the person picking them up.
  • For ONLINE ORDER will call transfer: In addition to what's above, you MUST have the confirmation number.
As always for any will call pick up, the person picking up tickets must have THEIR photo ID as proof of who they are!

For folks with Fire Conclave, Art, or any other infrastructure department of the event and you have questions about your ticket or early arrival you need to contact your Shin, manager, or Burning Man staff person who was in charge of tickets for you or your group.

If you are emailing to say you cannot use your scholarship ticket, please email scholarship(at)burningman(dot)com. (they may not be able to respond but they will get your email)

SCAM INFO:

Some evil scams and fake tickets are going around this year, be aware of these details and tips and hopefully you can avoid
getting swindled. See the information below as well as the Burning Man Blog post on the subject.

The ticket number: TWVT053W is a fake ticket. It may be sold by someone mentioning the name O'brien (who has nothing to do with the fakes). These are being passed off in SoCal (LA, San Diego and Santa Barbara and possibly SF now). There is also another pair of fake serial numbers going around the bay area: JL853RJX 13682 and JL853RJX 13681. These are really well produced fakes so beware!

When purchasing third party in person, bring a buddy and a known real ticket to compare it to, though keep it close to you. Ask the seller to show you ID. Meet somewhere public and during daylight. Be very wary of buying a third or fourth hand bought ticket and certainly do not pay with Western Union for a long distance transaction. ONLY PAY THROUGH PAYPAL, not that they are awesome, it's just that they have the best buyer protection for third party sales.
