Need a little help before I buy this ticket..

Postby 2toburn » Fri Aug 19, 2011 4:11 pm

I am being offered a ticket for face value. The catch is there are two tickets and only one is for sale. So they have to be split up ahead of time, or left for him to pick up on Monday, and then leave the second one for me at will call. I emailed ticket support to see if the tickets can be split up with the second one left under my name but no response yet. HE is allowing me to use Paypal, so if it goes wrong I can get my ticket money back, but if he takes the money out of paypal before I open a claim he can still get his money. So I will still get my ticket money back, but then I spent a lot of dough getting out there, and will find myself in the desert without getting in.. Any suggestions?

I'm assuming that both tickets are will call tickets. I don't have the answer, but I would suggest that you not move forward unless you get that question answered either by searching the ticket section of the site or a response from the email you sent to the ticket people.

Then I realised that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me.

Unfortunately, this is a situation where it is up to the first person entering to be honorable and put the second Will Call ticket in your name when he gets there, because he can't split a Will Call order for two tickets into two names. So, once you hear back from partiserv(AT)burningman(DOT)com (they need full name, email address, and the 8 character ticket serial codes off the back of the ticket(s) as well as the 5 digit number) that the tickets are at least real, and have satisfied yourself--through whatever means--that you are talking to the owner, it seems like you would still have to rely on him to change the name on the second ticket when he gets there.

It is possible to switch names on your will call order, but the order can only be switched to ONE name. You cannot split up an order into multiple names. If you need to give your tickets to multiple people, we suggest you have the name changed to the person who is arriving first and it will be that person's responsibility to place the other ticket(s) under the other names. This can get messy so you need to be sure you can trust the person who is picking up the tickets first. VERY IMPORTANT: When leaving tickets for people at the box office, names cannot be nicknames or incomplete names, they must be in our computer system under first and last name as seen on the person's legal photo ID.

You would have to get creative to find a means to make that a comfortable transaction for you. I admit, it would make me nervous as well, because yeah--just getting there is pricey.

Savannah's response is 100% correct. At TWII meeting, I was standing 3 feet from the head of Box when she answered a question about this.

ANY tickets can be left at Will Call for someone. They will need a government issued ID to retrieve is all.

So yea...he'd have to wait in line and get his will call tix, then hand one back to the person there and leave your name.
