**SOLD** "uhmble scalper" 2 will call tickets $555.50 each

Hey eplaya dudettes, insults and offers line up here...

I got 2 will call tickets, which I was not wanting to sell, but suddenly finding myself pressured to scrape up some money, and the potential owner of the other ticket is on the verge of backing out anyway.

Truly sorry to be selling these tickets for this price (or best offer) but I'm sort of against the wall. Also I guess I just decided to, or am still on the fence but going forward with this offer.

Insults/arguments in comments, offers in private messages.

peace anyway

I'm not exactly sure about that. Aren't the Jews known for their ability to make a buck? (stereotypically speaking of course)

uh, that's not been a universally appreciated aspect of perceived jewish culture. Kinda pissed some people off for most of recorded history . Especially in a place where everyone from Egyptians to Germans bring things to give away for free…

please don't offer anyone more than face value for tickets, nobody is "forced" to sell for more than face value its just an attempt to make a profit from other peoples bad planning.
As another point someone mentioned that they couldnt sell there will call tickets seperatley on another thread so if you do buy the op's tickets (and please only for cost) make damn sure, very very damn sure that they are genuine first. After all if they can ignore one of the principles of BM I am sure they won'y think twice about fucking you twice.

Maybe I woke up a wee bit cranky, but people please don't buy tickets for more than face value! Sellers are welcome to ask what they want, but if we the buyers keep paying higher prices, they'll just keep raising the bar. There are some of us that really can not pay more than face value and it knocks us out of the loop entirely. This includes long time Burners and those that are involved in large camp and art projects that have lost their ticket spaces because of the insane scalping prices.

Stop the insanity!

Wow. You cry up a storm about scalping and then out of the other side of your mouth tell her "Money talks, get over it"??

Did that just happen?

ditto

I didn't check this guy's profile, but something about the price of $555.50 makes me think this is fake. Just an odd amount to ask for.

But really, what is he supposed to say? It's the truth. If you show up late and don't get your ticket when they're available, and there's a scarcity, it's going to result in higher prices. Bravo to you if you choose to boycott and you stick to your guns, but it may end up that you're not going this year when someone who was willing to lay down another $200 will. No manifestos, chest thumping, words of encouragement, or whatever is going to change that fact. The forum doesn't ban price gouging because we're all adults here (or assumed to be in that age range) and we can decide whether paying the stupid tax is worth going this year or not.

And if you had posted in the "Greeters Station" sub-forum, odds are that he would have been the first to say hello. Up there, he's never tired. Down here, we all feel more than a little cranky, like we've been in an unrelenting 13 day dust storm.

regardless of if we can stop people selling tickets for any price over cost. not making some effort to protest it is simply wrong. who was it said "all it takes for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing" ? this is no different. burning man offers an enviroment where capatalism is simply removed, nothing can be bought or sold. Granted coffee can and so can ice, this I suspect is more to help those who camp solo and dont have the means to bring there own ice production facilities and the simple interaction granted by having a meeting place like center camp helps those a bit less able to let down there default barriers.
Its not a stupid tax it's people not being prepared to stand up for something, its easy for me to say that i bought a ticket as soon as i could, in fact i borrowed money to do so. when it looked as though i was going to be going with very little money i told people here, and planned for a sober slightly hungry burn. I planned and made sure that everything i could would be there for me. I hoped i would be able to help others but because it sold out i cant get another ticket to give away, if i had i would have sold the lower price ticket, because form my time on here thats what burners do, we help each other and from the other posts on other threads we critisize those who dont or who failto attempt to understand burning man isnt like other festivals/raves/parties.

yea so if you want to say "thats the way it is" perhaps you are a bit jaded and have forgotten something important burning man is about participation and contribution and community. Not about what can i make out of it, and its something that starts long before you get to greeters gate.

or perhaps i'm wrong and everything i have thought and read on here is bullshit

so what is he meant to say,i'll tell you, the same as the rest of the long term burners. Selling your tickets for more than face value is wrong, do not encourage it nor condone it, in fact if you are able stop it, be that by whatever (legal) means at your disposal or simply boycotting the event if you cant find a ticket at face value. If nobody buys tickets sold at above cost then the scalpers wont buy them, and the burners who cant get them because others have bought them to sell at a profit will be able to go.

If all this sounds a bit "burnier than thou" well then "suck it"
