Found a ticket! Several Playa projects counting on me

Postby RichDDT » Thu Aug 04, 2011 1:22 pm

I really need a ticket and I'm happy to PayPal and/or offer music technology, lessons, free entry to events - more details on that below.
Several Playa projects in progress depend on me. I'm an experienced Burner, live electronic musician, event producer and multimedia interactive installation artist. This would be my 6th consecutive year of dedicated service to the residents of Black Rock City.

This year's projects include LoveTech live electronic music event on the playa, several music performances with my ControlliTAR, a multiplayer interactive musical installation called the ReMatrix, and I'm building interactive areas at Nexus and Camp Questionmark. I was also a returning member of a Fire Conclave performance troupe, which would have guaranteed me a ticket, but it got dissolved just before tickets sold out.

Unfortunately in the midst of all this planning I missed my narrow window to buy (betw/ dissolve and sellout).
Please help me and my projects get realized on the Playa! My intention is to create awesome new environments for human connection and inspiration.

In exchange, in addition to paying full price, I'd happily share lots of music and VJ software and lessons on how to perform with them, free entry to my future events, and/or help bring something of value to you and your vision to the playa in your stead.

I'm best reached at 617.821.6966 or richddt [at] lovetech [dot] org
My artist profile is here: http://millionfishes.com/resident-artists/rich-ddt

Thanks!

Guess those playa projects that "depend on you" will be learning some radical self-reliance this year. It's a Rite of Passage and all, you know..

Good luck.

furry clown was already on here trying to say he had tickets and was going to sell them for $1000. after being told off by the whole forum, he then said they were sold. (doubtful since you can even get one on ebay for much less than that)
then he arrived and tried to buy a ticket from someone for $500
all the while posting obnoxious things
don't encourage him

Please, no more trolling.

Ticket holders, Please let me know if you can genuinely help me create more awesome interactive experiences for people on the playa.
Many people have been inspired by my projects and I really want to share much more again this year.
The ReMatrix simply can't get there without me, and neither can my scheduled performances happen.

Here's a video of people interacting with my last Playa project, Galaxy Conduit:

Your holier-than-thou-art-project attitude isn't gonna get you a ticket. Go find one. You're digging deeper.

I'm sorry you have that impression. If you knew me in person you'd see that I was quite humble.

What I am doing is trying to explain my need by giving details about my intended contributions, which I'm sure will make an engaging and memorable burn for many people besides myself. At least that's what's happened with my prior contributions.

This post is only one method that I am using to try and find one.

I think what junglesmacks is getting at is that everyone on this forum looking for tickets has a story as to why they didn't act in a timely manner (unlike the other 50,000+ ticket holders who didn't seem to find it that difficult) and why they deserve to be given the opportunity to go and blah blah blah. What it comes down to is "your pity me, i provide to the playa" post is just like all the other posts on here where people are begging to have the spirit of burning man spread when all that's really happening is the fourm is getting clogged and the threads where tickets are actually being OFFERED are being hidden away in the bullshit. So read the stickies and start being proactive. Science knows if you had done so in the first place then you wouldn't be in this position now.

I actually find it quite amusing that there are people who actually believe that sellers are reading these reasons/excuses/stories and consciously deciding who gets their spare ticket or not. The main deciding factor as to whether someone gets the spare ticket or not is if the person has contacted the seller first. So you're completely wasting your time parading your so-called credentials and "contributions" instead of spending your time jumping on the next offer thread.

And interestingly enough, at least one other "user" on this forum is posting from the same IP, trying to sell tickets above face with a sob story. *cough* twisted whispers* cough* Looks like we'll be outing socks here in tickets and posting who is running multiple accounts. Unusual move for the eplaya, but these are unusual times.

We've sent the IP and posts to BMORG admin for review. Unfortunately, scalping is legal in Nevada. (is it legal in Florida?) Just say no. And try to sell your ticket face to face if possible. Yes, it may be that the scalpers are sucking them up here and reselling. It sucks ass if that is what is happening. Look to sell locally in your community.

Be careful people. Not everyone on eplaya is a happy little burner. Some of them are burn artists.

*eeeeeeeeee!* Wrong answer. Saying that your humble is mutually exclusive with itself. (Or an oxymoron if you need a big word fix.) I know that living in the 21st century we're all supposed to be selling ourselves all the time. But there are some things I just don't buy...

Have I told you how modest I am? How humble? Have I mentioned that everyone says I have the most amazing humility? Have I mentioned my reticence? I am the most humble person you'll ever meet... Enough about me. Tell me, what do you think of me?

Not when there are so many on this board (note: not, for the most part, "old timers") giving it away for free, you're going to have to pay a hauling fee to get rid of it.

Thanks! I love teaching, if you're ever in SF come to my free weekly Digital Jam Lounge development series, it's also a great place to learn about new music technology.

If not in SF, I hope to meet you out on the playa.

YAAAAAY! I Have a BURNING MAN TICKET!! :D
Contrary to the advice of a few posters to this thread,
Posting my situation of need on Craigslist, describing my Playa performances, art installation & projects-in-progress, is how I landed it! So relieved!
For anyone else in need - stay persistent, the scalper insanity appears to be coming to an end; and if you keep believing, stay genuine, and act swiftly but surely - I believe it will work for you too.

Also - the seller said that pictures of me on-Playa gave him confidence. This was my post, for anyone curious:
http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/tix/2530072889.html
And, I followed the verify procedure here before buying:
http://tickets.burningman.com/#buysell

Thanks, and best of luck to the rest of you!

Cheers,
