Burning Man tickets and McDonald's

Believe me, this whole "I didn't realize tickets would sell out so I waited til the last minute" mentality boggles my mind. BOGGLES MY MIND. I just... I'm trying sooooo hard not to shake people like a ragdoll, screaming "WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!!!!" at the top of my lungs. Because I know ultimately what this means is that I and my well-prepared campmates will bear the brunt, one way or another, of having half our sister camp not there to do their part.

I will terrify you even more by telling you that the dude who didn't know that tickets sold out until TODAY is a long-time burner who already registered his art car.

AAAAUGH! PEOPLE! :)

I'm with ya!
But to me its a little more like "Why did you think/plan on going any where with out a ticket?"
Do these people just show up at air ports and start walking on to planes?
Or go to the movies and just walk in?

Would you plan a whole out of country vacation, then show up at the air port and get mad with TSA that they wont let you on a plane even though "You've already spent so much money on this vacation"
Why don't ya stick your head in that hole and find out? ~piehole

While I read the stories and feel the same way...HOW is that possible? Yet, I personally know (not friends with...just know) people who surprise me they manage to not have the world chew them up and spit them out. Total incompetence. From paying their car payment, to being defrauded on their credit cards, to buying into the prince in Madagascar that wants their checking account number. I don't understand how they aren't homeless...

I actually knew a person who lost his duffel bag at an event. He was flipping out. Apparently, he kept the title to his car, the deed to his house, and just about every other important document in that bag, and always had it with him. Really???? Imbecile.
So, while I don’t personally UNDERSTAND how this happens…and it DOES amaze me…it does not SURPRISE me.

Frequently, these details are sent out to the folks that need to follow them. Very frequently, people don't read them and they fail to follow the procedures. When they complain they "didn't know" I produce the email they were sent, and the "read" receipt if necessary.

There is a certain level of personal responsibility we all have in order to move through life. Certain things are expected of a person. Short of beaming the necessary info directly into someone brain, I think the bmorg did more than enough to spread the word.

I agree that everyone cannot devote oodles of time to research. I don't. I read the JRS, I check out the website from time to time. I only got into the eplaya recently as I had this desire to become more of a participant. I don't live this the other 51 weeks...my life and commitments won't allow it.

I don't, however, feel any sympathy for someone who feels it snuck up on them, etc.

And regarding the person who found out TODAY tix were sold out...that's probably for the best. The playa would have eaten him alive.

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realised that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me.

Maybe we can start a "marriage broker" service for camps that are missing key members. Make them mash-ups, as it were. "Tara's foot wash and lazer tag service."
