It's never time to beg here. IMO Burners don't appreciate non self-reliance. If you have to beg, maybe go do it on a corner somewhere? I hear they make tons of money.

Make stuff and sell it. Do small, odd jobs if you can't get employed. Sell stuff on Craigslist, Ebay or Etsy.

If you need to get away from your world for "composure" take a walk around the block. Don't ask other people to finance your vacation.

Wow, I'm getting grumpier and grumpier...

Dude! Seriously???

Every one of your 4 posts in the last year have been begging.... without even the courtesy of a response to the one person who actually answered you offering a lower priced ticket.

Both years you "missed the deadline" for the low-income tickets. (shaking my head real long on that one.)

You're doing this all wrong!!! At the very least, your representation skills are sorely lacking.

I missed the deadline last two years myself, due to the selling out early thing.
Part of low income is not having enough to buy the damn thing.
I'm not nearly alone in this either.
I don't know what's going on, but I know someone else is working my shifts out there.
They sold out very early this year.

On a positive note, I was probably given a lot of tickets that I don't know about.

It's never too early. I'm looking for a gift ticket to the 2015 event. My alarm is not going to go off that morning and I'll miss out on the whole first and second tiers. Since third tier is going to be 450 dollars, I'm going to whine for the next 3.5 years until someone sends me that [s]golden--[/s] magic larry ticket.

There's an inflection in the financial situation curve where on the lower side, there is little probability a person in such a situation would ever be able to go to BM even given a free ticket. On the other side of that point, it tends towards you-should-practice-more-self-reliance/responsibility-you-damn-freeloader reaction.

Balancing a sob-story right at that inflection point is an art in itself. Assuming that any of what you say is true, your story falls on the lower half of the curve. Anyway, you ought to be taking care of poor old grandpa and your son, and looking for a new job, rather than escaping to BM like a drunk trying to forget his worries.

Every year for the past 3 years I thought I would be unable to go for one reason or another. Once I find that I can go, I work my ass off to make it happen. I have yard sales, flip bikes, do what-ever it takes to get there.

The only time I was ever gifted a ticket was when I didn't ask for one.

I also have kids, elderly parents, and challenges, but I make it happen.

No sympathy here.

It's the gift part that people dont seem to get when they beg for tickets, how many people beg for tickets to see a band or to go to sat glastonbury or reading- very few because they have no gift economy, i know of people that have been given tickets but thats a different matter.
perhaps the real way to beg for a ticket eoyld be to ask for advice on ways to raise money to buy one?

having said that does anyone have any advice on ways to sell collectable prints of a succesful artist? i could do with some extra money as my airfare is 3 times what i expected and i have been advised that baggage is probably extra these days!!!

One place I've found helpful is http://www.artprice.com/.

Just plug in the artist and find out what their works are going for.

I had another site I used a while back when researching prices, but can't remember what it is now, dammit.....

Google is WAY helpful. I found all the sites I needed to get an idea of prices just by googling the artist's/work's name. Several of the hits have communities full of people interested in buying (if you're so inclined to sell). Make DAMNED sure that you know what the real price potential is before starting to deal in there tho. If there's any question, it might be worth your while to make arrangements with a specialized auctioneer.
