And maybe somebody that only lives off of $200.00 a month should reassess their priorities. And I'd be curious to hear where that two hundred bucks comes from.

If your mom wants you there that badly, she needs to buy your ticket. The cost of the ticket is nothing compared to the rest of the expenses. If you don't have a grand to burn, wait.

As for sneaking in... the perimeter patrol has night vision goggles. And cars. Gate has people who Do Not Like To Be Fucked With. You will not get in. You will not be happy about it.

If you don't have at least $1000 saved up, you aren't going to be able to make it there. If you do make it there and somehow get in, you'll be hated for being a mooch and not contributing.

If you are an artist, create something amazing and sell it and then go. Most of us bust our asses to be able to go.

Nobody DESERVES to get to go to Burning Man. Its not a right. Either you get creative with coming up with ways to make it happen, or it won't.

well - good luck.

You are not the poorest believe me. The poorest don't have the luxury to even begin to think about going to BM. They think about how they are going to feed and house themselves.

What are your plans for food? for water? for shelter? You know, those important things.?

Instead of posting here begging for a ticket, spend your time posting on CraigsList or something similar putting up ads for odd jobs you are willing to do for money. Go to the help wanted section there and look at the many ads for general labor. There are all sorts of ads for stuff that is not always manual labor that will get you some quick money.

The money is out there. You just have to be willing to go get it.
It's pointless to walk when it's past time to run.

Mindy,

Good luck but please keep in mind that Burning Man is expensive entertainment. No one "deserves" to go - it is not an entitlement, it is a big party in the desert. That you may be somehow spiritually moved to participate should make you want to "earn" your way, and not expect to attend on the backs of others.

Many of us work very, very hard to be able to attend and we plan and save year after year. - So I hope you understand when we get a little miffed with people who believe they "deserve" a free pass. We see this kind of post every year and it still amazes me that somehow you have missed the whole meaning of "radical self reliance".

Most important, if you do manage somehow to obtain entry, do you simply intend to make everyone else give you their food, water, shelter, etc...? Before you start relying on the generosity of others, what tangible gift are you providing? Please don't say "my healing energy"...........

As for sneaking in - When I see someone who thinks they should not have to help provide the infrastructure and all the things ticket money goes to, it really pisses me off. We are a community - you would be ripping us all off by doing that.

She's a welfare brat that has an attitude of entitlement, obviously fostered by her mother, who is coming on a "scholarship ticket". She gets a $200.00 probably SSI check every month, which means she does NOTHING all day, yet she MISSED getting her application in on time?

Why do you think she cares that she is ripping us off by sneaking in. She obviously has no moral compass.

I agree in lots of ways JK, but I also think that being broke and disabled is a hard, hard life. I know of very few who would actually choose that over being productive.

With an income of only $200 per month, we are also talking about someone who is either homeless or already living with some support.

So obviously then, she should not be thinking about going to burning man. Like I said previously, she needs to get her priorities in order.

Absolutely agreed.....
I am lucky to be able to give some gift tickets - they go to hard working camp members who would not even consider going otherwise. I do that because the Community (drink) is enriched by having them there, not lessened by any lack of contribution. They work hard at volunteering and are truly a part of the fabric of BRC.

LOL Ya, being judgemental is fun sometimes.

But, the difference lies in the distinction between gifting, where the gifter gives based on their perception of need or benefit to the recipient, and a potential recipient begging, or feeling entitled to the gift, which turns off even the most generous of gifters.
