it is a beautiful ticket.
mine finally showed up in tracking. it was in san antonio yesterday. should get it tomorrow. or at least the notice to come to the post office and get it. our postman won't come down the 1/2 mile long dirt road to the house.

Send me off your name and address and I will send off a brand new, and playa dusted Burning Man necklace.
Send me a PM with your info please.

Thanks Shambala! :P PM sent

That cloud of light and dust behind the Man is intriguing, the more I look at it the more I see creatures and things boiling down out of the sky onto the playa

Hey Tiahaar, I hope you enjoy it. It's stainless steel, so it won't ever rust in the rain. Be careful if you sleep on an air mattress or water bed and be sure to take it off if you ever hump a blow up doll--it could be dangerous for "both" of you! :D

Have a Happy New Year!

I was just thinking that so many tickets that were sent and got delayed or sidetracked and didn't make Christmas delivery. The necklace that was sent for Tiahaar was mailed from a tiny suburban post office in Massachusetts on December 29th, and it was received December 31st in California. Door to door, cross country in just 3 days.
I wonder when those tickets were really sent, that took so many days to be delivered?
Does anyone have postmarks or ship dates on the tickets?

On my ticket pack the date on the label is 12/17/2010...but methinks that was the day the label was printed out, not necessarily the mailing date, and there isn't a cancel mark.

The post office scribbled a 12/24 on it (meaning when notice was supposedly left in my POB for signature pickup) BUT they not only didn't put the notice in my box for that package but for another one from the folks as well. I had to bring in the email tracking printout that said 'waiting for signature' for them to go hunt the ticket pack down on the 28th...and that's when they came back with the other package that had been sitting since the 24th too...sigh...but its a busy time for them :?

mine has same date on postage, usps tracking got notice of a package on 12/18. written on envelope is 12/29. US first class parcel rate.

i really think some staffer from the ticket place drove around with them in the back seat for a week or so before he remembered to drop them off at the post office.

That's definately a possibility, but the USPS has been known to work in mysterious ways. For example, a few years ago I was waiting for my tickets to be delivered. I logged into the USPS web site to check the tracking information and I was more than a bit concerned to find that the tickets were delivered and signed for!

It turned out that the carrier signed for them when he picked up his mail for delivery with the intention of just leaving the tickets in my mail box. The post office branch supervisor got involved in tracking this down and after a two hour wait, I left the pst office with tickets in hand.

I still wonder what the real story was behind all of this, but strange things can and do happen with the USPS.

I'm still waiting to hear why there was no mail delivery in my area until Wednesday. Granted there was 2 feet of snow overnight Sunday into Monday but somehow 3 newspapers, UPS and Fed-ex made deliveries and the Viet Vets made year end donation pickups on Tuesday (and one newspaper was delivered Monday afternoon). Neither sleet, nor snow, nor rain, nor dark of night my ass.

When I was very young, the mailed was delivered by a nice old man. Then he retired and we had a series of various people, typically "minority" working their way up using the power of middle-class jobs provided by the federal government. Now, the post office is semi-private and last year I noticed a hippie working delivering the mail. A Hippie! Granted, I didn't see him again--but that's the hippie work ethic for you. So, they let just anybody deliver mail these days, and somehow, it doesn't get to its destination.

Draw your own conclusions.

...and it came at the same time as a packet bought on Ebay on December 27th, sent regular mail, also from California.

Mailforms show the tickets were sent by Express Post on the 21st. Envelope, obviously just paper

The Ebay packet was something more likely to be delayed at the border, being bulky and weird enough. (something to go with one of my costumes).

Still somehow the Express Post envelope at $26.95 took almost a week more than regular snail mail at $1.75. That's kinda got to make you wonder.

Lemurs don't jump off cliffs, and contrary to folklore, niether do lemmings.

Yep. Yep. I was definitely thinking of lemmings. And the old (erroneous, so it would now seem) picture of them all just running together with abandon towards the "final destination". Seemed appropriate enough under the circumstances

Anywhooooooo.....

It's still just a sloth. And I don't think sloths even run in their dreams.
