Tickets and Tiers

Postby maryanimal » Mon Oct 11, 2010 12:04 am

So I was reading about when tickets are available. But what I want to know is what's the difference in the tiers? I hear about first tier or third tier.. which is the best one to be in??? I'm so confused!!! :D

Oh, Maryanimal, it's very simple. The more expensive tickets get the best views. Duh!

Actually, its simply pricing levels based on when you buy them and nothing more. If you get your tickets when they go on sale, they are a bit cheaper than if you wait. If they didn't do this, everyone would wait until the last minute to buy tickets. As far as difference, once you get in the gate, "we are all equal---but some are more equal than others"!

Mm.. google is more of an acquaintance. I wouldn't call us full on friends yet. I added it as a friend on FB but it still hasn't accepted the request. Pfff...

Welllll, if "google" is a verb, then JS was only lacking a period, and a capital A.

"When in doubt, google. And the burningman.com website is your friend."

That is assuming lenience re. "website" vs. Web site, of course.

And I always thought the DPPW (Department of Pronunciation and Punctuation Wankers) was a myth! :P

What this means is when you "can", pay for the more expensive ticket...because someone out there may need a scholarship ticket someday....and it may be you....or you....or you ...or even YOU!

Or you can even buy 2 tickets....then gift one away to a good soul.

Don't worry Fishy, I'm a member too. (But a closet member--I always notice bad spelling, grammar and punctuation in posts, but usually never mention it--just make a mental note! ;) )

I know that my spelling and grammer are terrible from not using those skills for most of my life.

So I can focus on what Im trying to express or on spelling and grammer then lose my train of thought.

So I hope you will forgive me.

Or dont!

It's a little odd for me. I have never spelled well. (The people I know who do have some sort of module in their brains that does it. At least according to what they've told me.) So I have spelling shame. I also love it when people put the wrong homonym into a sentence, because it makes it mean something wierd and maybe amusing. So I point it out, but I really try to avoid any sort of triumphalism when I do. I don't know how well I succeed. I find computer boards to be an informal medium, so I'm okay with a lot of the misspelling and grammar errors, but sometimes it just hits me wrong.

Lol.. I love this board and the thread drift. I had no idea that my post had caused an entire grammar discussion until I came back to this morning..

In my defense, I have a habit of typing too fast and letting my ADD mind drift off to the next thing that I'm planning on doing after I'm done typing.. which.. can lead to grammar errors from time to time.

However, looking back on this, one thing is correct. The word "google" is now used as a verb in modern colloquialism as well as being an actual web site. You tell people to "just google xxxxxx...". Now that I think about it, it seems that the word "website" is being used with frequency instead of "web site". A mistake, but a socially popular one.

English is a funny, ever-morphing thing.. now ain't it..

Random observations over morning coffee. Carry on.

This however, is one thing that bugs the everliving poo out of me: Using "and" to start a sentence. I was always taught that it was incorrect under any circumstance when I was just a wee lad, and so to this day it never looks acceptable to me. Just sayin'..

I threw that rule out a long time ago. We're back to my "informal" mode, and in speech, people begin sentences with "and" all the time.

Or the current version... starting a sentence with the word "So... " and a pause...

As if what you are saying is the only, ultimate fait accompli... it's like a "I know far more than you, I will tell you what to believe... So... ".

That drives me nuts. Yeech.

That's completely possible.
I also use sentence fragments.
I find that breaking these rule works for me. When I'm writing something formal, I do do it differently.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I meant in speech. Ordinary, casual speech.

And advertising is where you see the sentence fragments and beginning things with "and."

Clarity is the only thing that matters to me.

Rules of grammar vary in UK and america.
Most of the world follows english grammar.

And, so I often use those rules, as far as I'm able, on forums with a large international following.

Yes

If you type "burningman" into google and click on "tickets" on the first entry and then "buying tickets online" you get this:
