What about a roof mounted megaphone with extra long mic cord and remote on/off switch?
Could be hidden or not, and aimed upwards maybe.. for that general.. haunting.. where the f is that coming from feeling..

Or this fall, right after Halloween, I'll pick up a bunch of those "creepy noises" sound effects CDs.
Find one that works pretty well, then really late at night play that.
Really screw with people walking home late at night, all fucked up!

We had one of those creepy noise door mats that freaked me out for about 2 weeks. Every night right about 3 AM it would start going off continuously for several minutes.
Finally after being woken up every night I sat up and waited for the prankster. Imagine my surprise when I yanked the door open to catch the culprit only to see a huge opossum staring me down. Apparently my door mat was a regular spot on her nightly rounds and the noise didn't bother her.
Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.
