We were not placed and I'm pretty pissed about it - Farmopolis was an excellent interactive camp last year and this group of burners has had a placed camp every year except 2009 (when a lot of people got hosed). Maybe we asked for too much - placement on A with an art tunnel to Esplanade to support a large art project. Really really really pissed off right now...

How big was your camp?

I'm not exactly sure yet, our village contact hasn't given me all the details other than "no placement". We applied for a village of 100 people, I applied for Farmopolis camp within the village. Our village provides the Cornhole Bar (which was very popular last year), Manchanical bull (best ride on the playa), the Clothesline and two large art projects (one of which was last minute and wasn't included in placement app). Our main art project is Chroma - a cast aluminum bust of a woman, about 14 feet tall with arc lights shining onto the playa - an amazing piece of art by an amazing artist. We wanted Chroma to be on Esplanade but we weren't asking for an Esplanade camp (although this group has been on Esplanade before - The Belfry in 2007). I'm guessing our request for A was too much. We don't have DJs or large sound because we are an art and interactive camp, not a sound camp. Maybe A placement was pushing it. I don't know, but this blows.

Thats more people than we can squeeze into our camp! A lot more!

Don't over-think it. Trying to read the mind of the llc is like reading goat entrails. Maybe asking a placer would get useful information. Maybe not.

Besides just being quiet, what is their participation? They were being a lot more strict on making sure placed camps had a higher level of participation this year, from what I understand.

Well, camps within it had interaction. Including AntiM's Home for Wayward Art. I hope she finds another place to put that, if it's not going to be there.

Hushville was denied placement this year. Ten years of exemplary LNT, host to many interactive camps (including my Home for Wayward Art), and a thriving community. So, what? We aren't noisy enough? Fuck this.
