For most of Burning Man, the theme wasn't announced until the late fall, or maybe a few weeks prior to tickets going on sale in January. While it is a little odd that no theme has been announced because of the past few years, its not anything to be concerned about.

When did Martini Steve do the Shrine to the Oven Mitt? He met Larry Harvey at the installation and Harvey told him the next year's theme. That was the first time I remember it coming out that early. It was American Dream theme and the announced theme was Evolution. That should date it fairly well.
