Problem Solved HELP: Lost connection while in queue?????

Postby hello_Chip » Wed Jan 13, 2010 12:17 pm

Statistics I kept while waiting show about 60 orders (not tickets) per minute were being processes.

Started 4419 in queue right after 10am.
Took till about 11:15 to get into order page - 1 hour wait

UPDATE: :lol:
Pasted the http://xxxx in the error message into a NEW web page & everything was good!! Whew -- panic off!

FYI: Original browser window continues the running squares with below message & never updates.
===========
Did I get kicked out of the queue??
[Previously passed test page on this computer & connection]

I was in for over over an hour and now the page shows:

This webpage is not available.

The webpage at http://tickets.burningman.com:8080/queu ... _queue=7b3[deleted]&go=0 might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.

What to do?
Wait?
Refresh page? :(

A bugger?

Postby WTF » Wed Jan 13, 2010 12:20 pm

How is the process that I am following any different from anyone else. I have tried both IE and Mozilla. Both give me the same results. I am using Comcast. I still would like to buy tickets. Can anyone suggest how I might do this differently? Thanks

WTF, what exactly is timing out? are you in the queue? is the counter counting down for you? not clear what you've got going on.

and no, one's geographical location means squat.

dude, that sucks. you're behind a firewall and you're port restricted. i hate to say this, but you're going to have to go elsewhere to get in. an iphone (or the like) works, as a suggestion. sorry man, that's why we have a link on the page for people to test their browser and firewall status beforehand.

My wife was in and out of the ticket purchasing process in exactly 18 minutes. VERY smooth this year. She began refreshing the page at 9:58 and was #582 in the queue right at 10am. Nice work, BM tech team!

I got my ticket after an hour starting around 4800. No problems, no crashs or freezes. This didn't feel right. I was terrible worried that I must have been fished untill I read here that other are having problems. Whee. then it must be ok with the Universe.

I miss the agrivation, ranting and cursing at the PC. Without getting all worked up and glandular, it's just not the same.

Started at 10, connected to the website at 10:06: 6678th in line. LOL 11:43 and I'm at 1375. A friend of mine was at about 3000 and got bumped from the server a few minutes ago. (Comcast, FWIW)

Just saw the 11:30 flash that first tier are almost gone. First tier are what I could afford NOW, but in a couple months I'll buy a full-priced ticket.

Interesting process. Seems to work well if you have a stable internet connection.

The friend of mine who got kicked off reconnected, and the cookie or whatever got him back to his place in line. He said there was only ONE Tier 1 ticket left, so he bought both of his at Tier 2. Thankya, Dean!

12:10 and #201...

In the past 2 years, I bought $300 tickets off friends. On the playa I noticed I was pretty poor compared to a lot of people, so decided to try for tier 1 online tickets this time.

Here was my experience today:

Logged in at 9:59 but the site wouldn't come up - too many people refreshing. Got it up at 10:01 and was 5000th in line. My gf used her laptop at 10:02 and was 5500th in line.

At 11:45 I got to the front of the line. Selected 2 tickets at tier 1, clicked "find tickets", and the site crashed. Refreshed, nothing.

Went to my gf's laptop and it was just reaching front of the line. Same thing, and site crashed. Tried the back button, clicked "find tickets" again, site crashed. Did that 4 or 5 times and then suddenly it loaded! Got the tickets at 11:50 just as the "tier 1 sold out" announcement came up. :)

Overall was pleased, although I can't say it was a flawless experience as others have said. Maybe flawless compared to previous years? :p

In summary, if you were successfully online at exactly 10am PST, and you didn't make any mistakes, and you were lucky, you got tier 1. Everybody else is SOL.

I'm just glad I can afford to go.

That happened to me last year! Except I got all the way to the Credit Card Part when it crashed. After spending a half hour on the phone with the bank to see if it had gone through (since I don't have a high limit on my credit card, I couldn't afford to put more tickets on it) Frustrating! I'm glad you finally got through. 8) :D Squeeeeee!!!!

Does anyone know if they release the stats on how many people buy a higher priced ticket when lower priced ones are available?

only when enough people fill out the questionnaire relating to how much they spend on a ticket, vs how much they could have spent, and, how much they care about who goes and who doesn't........

Looks like I'm the first (worrywart) w/questions in line for 2011, :oops:
I read up but...I still have questions

It's no secret, money is beyond tight for me, I'd like to buy tier one.

I tested my lap top on main BM page, that's A-OK
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have access to a friend's major credit card(s) with enough wiggle room to charge.
I would like to use American Express, or Visa or Master Card...is there a "best choice?"
****Seems maybe American Express is best?
****I do NOT have pay pal.....am I risking it?
****Is PayPal that important to have?
****I was told getting in line w/dsl, one or two hours early is a good idea, is this possible? It was suggested 9:00 AM, maybe even 8:00 AM.
****I did notice someone got in line a few minutes early last year, is lining up early OK to do?
****I've never fully understood the times on the main BM page, regardless, will my windows 7 clock fed by my DSL suffice for accurate PST time?
(I am located in PSTime zone)
****Will the button "buy tickets" appear in an easy to locate spot on main BM page?
****please let me know what's best here or by PM'ing me.
Thank you!
I'm the MAN in a truck, burner who is stuck, you're in luck! I'll whip out my BIG tow chain and not charge you, not even one lousy buck!
