Black Rock Bookmobile and//or Bookish Camps

Postby burnthebooks » Tue Jul 27, 2010 9:07 pm

A few years ago I came across a wonderful bookmobile out on the playa, but never got their contact information. Does anyone know if they plan on coming back this year? Or if there is a Black Rock Library or book-related camp? I'd love to help 'em out.

Thanks!

Hushville hosts a Librarian Cocktail Party on Wednesday evening. I have no idea if it is happening this year.
I'm too jaded to think up a good sig-line. Need more coffee.

There is a bookmobile, usually in center camp. I'm too darned lazy to do anything bookish out there, although usually I'm a compulsive reader. Go to the playa schedule and see what sort of book things people are offering. You can always put up a big sign outside your camp and see what developes.

I have a small library in the Kantina, am building it slowly (remind me to hit the bookmobile this year), keeping it thematic and still semi-entertaining. Always looking for (un)approved socialistic/condemnastic/militaristic/extremist/biased literature to add to collection.

Latest Additions (2) - "The Way Things Ought to Be" by Rush Limbaugh, and "Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot" by Al Franken. (Hey, they were next to each other in the used book store - I take that as providence!) - not quite thematic, but I couldn't pass it up.

I have one called He-Manners, a male etiquette book from the 50s or 60s. And a book on nude lifestyle from the 40s(??).

I have a 1940s sex manual complete with instructions for washing, rolling and re-using your condoms.
And fifty years later they had to say over and over not to reuse. Some boners are just really hard to recover from.
