OK it's July 17 but from what I can see there is no 2010 Playa Events Calendar link.Anyone else able to find it?

I think you have proceed any dates with an "around" and end times with an "ish" for any "we'll have this ready by" deadlines. And also expect cut off times to happen BEFORE the published dates.

Yes thanks.Used to that unfortunately.Can't understand why they just don't announce it when they actually have things ready to go.Would not care if I wan't leaving tomorrow for three weeks in some countries and places where I will be lucky to find a computer.

I am not arguing the point.After 11 years dealing with these sort of things I am as cynical as the next in trusting BM dates.However in this case they sent out a special bulletin yesterday saying you can list events today.It has not happened.Why not send out the bulletin when the thing is up and running?

I just checked 5 minutes ago and it's still the 2009 stuff that's there. That's OK, those volunteers are overworked, busy beavers and I'm sure that they'll get the site updated as soon as they can.

I think when you went into your time machine a leaped forward a month, you dislodged the Calendar from the space time contineum. I"m bringing a herd of goats. Entrail reading should be reliable this year.

So sorry, but contrary to our last announcement, submissions for the
2010 "What? Where? When?" booklet and web listings DID NOT open last
Thursday, June 17th as was scheduled. It seems that the best laid
plans of our geeks just went astray. Unfortunately, if you went to the
link we gave you, that was for the 2009 calendar. When the submissions
do open -- possibly tomorrow -- the correct link will be:

It seems to me kinda silly to put the WWW up before placements are announced. We for one certainly don't know the "WHERE" part of the event announcement,,,,, yet. So it seems like a "cart before the horse" thing to me.

If you are a registered theme camp they add your address for you once placement has been announced.

I played around with the API a few days ago and had the same problem everyone else did. But then I logged out and logged back in, and I was able to find the option to browse 2010 events and post to the 2010 playa events. I started my entry, and we were talking about what we wanted to name our events and re-write our descriptions, so we decided not to post yet.

I just went to the site, logged back in, it comes to a 'Whats next?' page, and 7 links down is the 'Submit an event' link, along with a description underneath it that says (in smaller print) "to the playa calendar". Click on that link, and you are free to make your entry!

Cool. Looks like they are working on it. Lots of links are broken.

I would wait till they announce it since it is moderated anyway and they might reset the database after testing and whatnot.

It is kind of working! SHOCKING! What a screwy site! Its so hard to use! Not only do you have to log out and log back in to view the "what's next?" page, but nothing is completely updated. I filled everything out, but it wouldnt submit because it said I had to pick a theme camp, except when you try to pick one ITS BLANK!! GRR!! I just want the world to know about the rootbeer floats on the playa!

Maybe I am completely missing something...

I just wrote it in the "other" catagory,,,, believe me, I'll be keeping an eye on it to see if it sticks.

Last year they had a list of every theme camp in a drop down menu.Seems to me they chose to skip this feature this year,handy though it was,and kept the vestigal"theme camp"entry form.We also chose"other"and our final copy looked fine.It included our camp name and seemed to me to be the exact same as last year in that regard.Of course all our entries are subject to review by the "moderator"and we too will keep a close eye on that aspect.We too thank Gage for the update.

Looks like they fixed a lot of broken stuff last night.

Both theme camps and art installations are now in and all the broken links seem to work now.

No map or street names though.

All y'all that entered events already may have to reenter when they are done and fully published.

Okay, I registered my van last week with the dmv, and since that's exactly the sort of stuff I cannot remember, I let my web browser memorize the login info. Last night, the information was no good.

Just now, I was able to go back and select "hosted by" and whadyaknow! Retrofrolic is on the list twice! That either doubles our chance of success or cuts it in half,,,,, not sure,,,,, hmmmmmmm

We tried to use it and found that times, places and space on the playa don't always intersect. We were there, the event wasn't. At least in that time and place. We only wasted a little time. But it would be nice to have such a thing. There are some things I would like to do/see. I mean pinballing around the playa is fun. Most fun. Just that I would like to know about some things BEFORE they happen.
